The Left uses the word “democracy” to mean whatever progressive political program they are pushing at any given time.
That is wrong. Democracy has a very specific meaning – it is the right of the people to choose their own leaders and self-govern.
Democracy, of course, should always be constrained by a Constitutional system. No one should be able to vote away another person’s gun rights, for example.
But democracy is an important part of a free country. If our leaders are doing a bad job, we can vote them out.
The Left doesn’t protect democracy, they undermine it.
When they empower Deep State agencies to operate outside of the law, democracy is undermined. No one can vote the CIA out of office.
When they censor dissenting viewpoints, they undermine democracy. There’s no “democracy” if only one side is being heard.
