Yet another company has joined the predatory woke movement.
Their conservative customers just want to be treated with respect.
But instead, John Deere made one shocking move to stab them in the back.
Everyone assumes a company like John Deere would have conservative values. Afterall, they almost exclusively sell equipment and products used by working class Americans.
They’re perhaps the last company one would expect to go “woke.”
Waffle House and Cracker Barrel, while having a large conservative customer base, are restaurants and open to everyone.
Bud Light was mostly consumed by conservatives, but they had liberal drinkers too.
Advance Auto Parts had a working-class customer base, but liberals drive cars too (at least for now).
John Deere, on the other hand, is a company that almost exclusively caters to blue collar, working-class Americans.
How many liberals have a diesel engine? How many liberals operate agricultural machinery? How many liberals drive tractors?
John Deere should know who they are serving, and it isn’t the bubble-tea drinking hipster, liberal class.
But they’ve apparently forgotten that. Even John Deere has gone all-in on the woke movement.
In fact, they wrote an entire article on their website about their push for “diversity, equity, and inclusion,” particularly on the behalf of their “vice president of internal audit,” Leslee Hager.
The article states, “The John Deere Accounting & Finance organization had earned a reputation for being diligent in DEI, but during a late 2020 roundtable discussion, Hager recalled a tipping point that motivated the team to raise the bar.”
“We were told, ‘No, this is not enough,'” Hager said. “One of the leaders said, ‘We need to take big action and we need to make sure all our leaders are engaged.'”
Apparently since then, John Deere has made a concerted effort to become more woke and progressive.
They now have corporate “DEI conversations” to push this agenda onto their employees.
The article continues, “Shane Edwards, regional group controller for North America, leads the DEI conversations. His monthly meetings typically have more than 500 employee participants.”
“The Finance Development Program (FDP) is another program that further supports the DEI movement within Accounting & Finance. In addition to the broad support provided to all FDP participants, the program pairs diverse new hires with a mentor and coach, and connects them to professional organizations like the National Association of Black Accountants.”
This pernicious DEI agenda has infected corporations across America, making everything about race and gender.
In the past, employees would be hired for their skills and qualifications, but now they’re chosen for their immutable characteristics.
John Deere may have thought they’d get away with going woke, but their agenda has been exposed and their customers won’t be happy.
