For Democrats, the top Senate race for 2024 is in California.
One leftwing Democrat after another has thrown their hat into the ring.
And now, you won’t believe who Nancy Pelosi is backing.
For years, Senate elections in California had been among the most quiet political races in the country.
With Democrats dominating the Golden State’s political landscape, the rest of the country would often ignore statewide elections in California.
What’s more, California had the same two Senators in office for decades.
But now with a seat opening up for the first time in over 30 years, the Senate race is poised to become one of the biggest races in the entire country.
And with the Democratic primary shaping up to be the largest and most expensive primary in the entire country, all eyes are on California to see who pulls the win.
One left-wing Democrat after another has thrown their hat into the ring, and now Nancy Pelosi just inserted herself into the race by publicly declaring her support for one of the most infamous Democrats of them all.
Politico reports:
“Rep. Nancy Pelosi on Thursday endorsed Rep. Adam Schiff in California’s high-profile Senate primary, backing the former House Intelligence Committee chair.”
“Pelosi’s conditional endorsement comes one week after Schiff (D-Calif.) officially launched his campaign. Rep. Katie Porter (D-Calif.) was the first to jump into the race, and Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) has privately told her colleagues that she intends to run. Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) has also expressed interest, saying that will consider a bid “over the next few months.””
While Adam Schiff has disgraced himself for routinely lying about Donald Trump and then breaking the constitution in his attempt to ban reporters from social media sites merely because of their unfavorable coverage of his office, Schiff believes he’s worthy of promotion by the voters.
And he’s got Nancy Pelosi’s endorsement right out of the gate.
Schiff’s decision to announce a Senate bid comes at a time when Democrats are scrambling to fill the seat that will likely be vacated by Senator Dianne Feinstein.
By positioning himself as the consensus candidate among Democrat Party elites, Schiff hopes to secure the party’s establishment base in order to win the primary in the summer of 2024.
And with Nancy Pelosi’s endorsement, Schiff gains a clear edge among Democrat voters against his likely rival, Democratic Congresswoman Katie Porter, who is likewise notorious for reportedly having one of the most toxic relationships with congressional staffers in Washington D.C.
But while Porter has tried to position herself as a left-wing extremist in the same mold as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Schiff’s relentless attacks on conservatives – combined with his strong backing from establishment Democrats like Pelosi – could mean Schiff emerges victorious in spite of his own tarnished reputation.
