This revelation has left the entire nation stunned.
People can’t believe what they are hearing after J.D. Vance was selected.
And this piece of information has raised major questions.
The selection of J.D. Vance as Donald Trump’s running mate in the November election has been very exciting for many people who have long admired him.
In particular Tucker Carlson has been a vocal proponent of Vance, going toe-to-toe with Sean Hannity and Rupert Murdoch who both had other candidates in mind.
However, it will be interesting to see how people react to the reports about Vance’s past comments about Trump.
According to Reuters, “Eight years ago, in the lead-up to the 2016 presidential election, J.D. Vance was a bitter critic of Donald Trump.”
“Publicly, he called the Republican presidential candidate an ‘idiot’ and said he was ‘reprehensible.’ Privately, he compared him to Adolf Hitler.”
These comments from Vance were very extreme. Of course, they came at a time when Trump was new on the scene and many people simply did not know what to make of his candidacy.
He was still fresh off of being seen by most of the country as a celebrity reality show host, not the populist leader he is seen as today.
It’s entirely possible that Vance was simply voicing his first impression of Trump, which later changed as he observed his campaign and ultimately his presidency.
The article continues, “Republican Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming, whom Vance has described as a mentor, told Reuters that Vance shifted his views on Trump because ‘he saw the successes that President Trump as president brought to the country.’”
“In media interviews, Vance has said there was no ‘Eureka’ moment that changed his views on Trump. Rather, he gradually realized that his opposition to the former president was rooted in style rather than substance.”
“For instance, he agreed with Trump’s contentions that free trade had hollowed out middle America by crushing domestic manufacturing and that the nation’s leaders were too quick to get involved in foreign wars.”
It’s true that Trump’s style was something a lot of people had to adjust to, as it was very different from what most people are used to out of a president.
But Vance ultimately decided that he supported Trump due to the policy positions that he approved of.
Now he’s going to serve as Trump’s running mate and perhaps his Vice President. He has come a long way since 2015 when he did not like Trump.
