Freedom is being crushed by the all-powerful spy state.
And Joe Biden is thrilled about it.
Now, a new proposal would expand the power of government even more.
Information is power, and the more information governments have about their people, the more powerful they are.
There’s no better example of that than in 2016, when a presidential candidate who was running on an anti-establishment platform got directly targeted by the FBI and the intelligence community.
They then went on to leak information to the press to damage that candidate’s campaign.
When something like that happens, it sends a message to all other political hopefuls – don’t rock the boat, or we will destroy you.
And when that happens, true political change becomes nearly impossible.
In the past, spy agencies had to install bugs on telephone lines, or even send spies in person to monitor their political enemies.
But now, in the digital age, these spy agencies have all the information they need right in front of them to exert control over the population.
And their grip on power is tightening even more.
Now, in Europe, the European Commission, which is the executive branch of the European Union, is proposing a radical new surveillance scheme.
This scheme is so far-reaching that it would even make the CIA or the GCHQ (the British version of the CIA) blush.
Of course, their excuse for it is one meant to gin up sympathy – in this case, “stopping child sexual abuse.”
But their proposals go far, far, far beyond anything that is actually necessary to stop child sexual abuse.
According to a report from The Verge, “The European Commission has proposed controversial new regulation that would require chat apps like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger to selectively scan users’ private messages for child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and “grooming” behavior. The proposal is similar to plans mooted by Apple last year, but, say critics, much more invasive.”
“After a draft of the regulation leaked earlier this week, privacy experts condemned it in the strongest terms. ‘This document is the most terrifying thing I’ve ever seen,’ tweeted cryptography professor Matthew Green. ‘It describes the most sophisticated mass surveillance machinery ever deployed outside of China and the USSR. Not an exaggeration.’”
You read that right – the European Union is following directly in the footsteps of Communist China and the USSR.
And even though this policy hasn’t officially been passed in the U.S. yet, the European Union shares oceans of data with U.S. intelligence agencies.
This could provide an end-around for U.S. intelligence agencies to illegally collect info on their own citizens, without actually having to collect that info themselves.
And furthermore, it could provide a framework for similar laws to be passed in the U.S. in the future.
This, of course, would be the dream of someone like Joe Biden.
But it would also be the dream of neocon Republicans like Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, Mitch McConnell, Tom Cotton, Dan Crenshaw, and others.
This spy scheme, which an expert describes as “the most terrifying thing I’ve ever seen,” is about to become a reality for all of us, unless we can stop it.
