The Left is trying to impose transgender ideology on children.
They thought they could get away with it without parents ever knowing.
But Glenn Youngkin just took action to stop the Left from taking advantage of children in this way.
It is absurd to think that a young child could make a permanent decision as significant as choosing to change his or her sex.
And it is absurd that a school would encourage a child to do this without informing the child’s parents, and in some cases actively hiding it from them.
But in some school districts – particularly ones in upper-class liberal areas – that is exactly what is happening.
And that’s why Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin is putting his foot down and putting an end to this grotesque practice in his state.
Youngkin’s Department of Education has put forward a set of model policies for school boards in his state to implement.
According to the draft, “Parents have the right to instill in and nurture values and beliefs for their own children and make decisions concerning their children’s education and upbringing in accordance with their customs, faith, and family culture.”
It then cites Supreme Court cases establishing this as a Constitutional right, including Troxel v. Granville, Wisconsin v. Yoder, and Pierce v. Society of Sisters.
The draft continues, “Parents are in the best position to work with their children and, where appropriate, their children’s health care providers to determine (a) what names, nicknames, and/or pronouns, if any, shall be used for their child by teachers and school staff while their child is at school, (b) whether their child engages in any counseling or social transition at school that encourages a gender that differs from their child’s sex, or (c) whether their child expresses a gender that differs with their child’s sex while at school.”
Furthermore, “To ensure parents are able to make the best decisions with respect to their child, school personnel shall keep parents fully informed about all matters that may be reasonably expected to be important to a parent, including, and without limitation, matters related to their child’s health, and social and psychological development. Parents’ rights are affirmed by the United States Supreme Court that characterized a parent’s right to raise his or her child as ‘perhaps the oldest of the fundamental liberty interests recognized by this Court.’”
The implication of all of this is that public schools, particularly in upper-class liberal areas such as Loudon County, will no longer be able to get away with “transitioning” students at their schools without telling the parents about it.
And they certainly won’t be able to hide information from parents about what they are doing to their children at school.
Parents should never have to find out that their child was manipulated into being transgender by a politically-motivated faculty member at a school.
And fortunately for Virginia parents, this policy by the Youngkin administration will ensure that their children are protected from being used as political pawns for the transgender movement.
