Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot oversees one of the largest cities in America.
And it’s crumbling to pieces under her watch.
And now, she just made one shocking admission about Chicago’s sky-high crime rates.
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is mayor of one of the most dangerous cities in America.
With a murder rate that is higher than it has been since the 1990s, Chicago is notorious across America for its violent crime.
What’s more, the city is now experiencing a new crime wave that involves roaming bands of thieves ransacking stores and running off with thousands of dollars worth of merchandise.
And yet, Lightfoot has repeatedly denied there’s any problem in Chicago.
Until now.
The Hill reports, “Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) is calling for federal officials to help her curb gun violence in the city and target its root causes. Lightfoot urged U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland to utilize agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to address illegal firearms and for more prosecutors to bring criminal cases.”
After months of denial and attempts to shift the blame to gun owners or even small business owners for the crime wave, Lightfoot is finally admitting the truth that Chicago is in the midst of a violent crime wave the likes of which the city has not seen in over 30 years.
“The mayor also requested that judges in Cook County stop releasing people charged with violent crimes including murder, aggravated gun possession, sex crimes, illegal gun possession and kidnapping on electric monitoring,” adds The Hill.
The problem with Lightfoot’s comments however is that she still refuses to accept any responsibility of her own for contributing to this disaster.
Not only did Chicago play right into the hands of radical left-wing activists who demanded that the city government destroy its own police department last year, but with strict gun control laws and a refusal to protect people’s property rights, Chicago has created a situation where spiking crime rates were inevitably going to happen.
And now that the disaster is here, it’s extremely difficult to stop it from unfolding further.
“Lightfoot’s speech comes as Chicago police data indicated that 3,411 shootings occurred in 2021 as of earlier this month, a 9 percent increase from last year,” concludes The Hill.
Of course, Chicago isn’t alone.
There are dozens of cities across America that have seen a rampant increase in the number of murders, thefts, and other violent crimes over the past year, and nearly all of them have been run by far-Left radicals for years if not decades.
A similar crime wave is currently sweeping New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and Portland, among other major cities in America with hardcore Left-wing mayors and city councils.
However, Chicago remains one of the most dangerous cities out of all of them, with a violent crime wave that makes even the routine car break-ins in San Francisco seem tame by comparison.
