Trump is going to have to do something to fix this immediately.
Everything could be threatened by this major turn.
And this crisis could upend his entire presidency.
Judges are incredibly powerful in the American system of government as Donald Trump has found out the hard way time and time again.
A liberal judge can do immense damage to the agenda of a conservative president.
That’s why it’s so concerning that Joe Biden has managed to stack the judiciary with judges who are almost certain to be hostile towards Trump’s political agenda.
Biden just set an all-time record for the most judges appointed to the federal bench – and these judges will be ruling on some of Trump’s most important policies during his presidency.
If Trump doesn’t do something to win the judiciary back for conservatives, his entire agenda could be dead on arrival.
According to NBC News, “The Democratic-led Senate confirmed the 235th federal judge nominated by President Joe Biden, marking a milestone for the outgoing occupant of the White House by giving him one more than former President Donald Trump secured.”
“The latest confirmation Friday could be Biden’s last, meaning he will leave office having secured one Supreme Court justice, 45 appeals court judges, 187 district court judges and two judges on the U.S. Court of International Trade.”
While there are no direct statistics on the political leanings of these Biden-appointed judges, historically the best way to tell a judge’s political views is by the president who nominated them.
“All will serve lifetime appointments, making them the safest part of a Biden legacy that will be partially unraveled by Trump as he returns to the White House and his party seizes control of the Senate next month,” NBC News continues.
“Biden’s picks have broken from the tradition of presidents of both parties who have leaned toward choosing prosecutors and corporate lawyers to be judges, an early goal for Biden’s White House in selecting nominees.”
“Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, the incoming chair of the Judiciary Committee, said Republicans will ensure Trump ends his second term with a combined total of more judges than Biden had.”
Grassley’s pledge isn’t enough to make a major difference. Trump appointing more combined judges over the course of two terms – compared to Biden’s one term – is not an impressive feat.
In order to solve this for conservatives, Trump and Grassley will have to nominate more judges in his upcoming term than Biden did in the last one.
Otherwise, there will simply be too many liberal judges on the bench for Trump to get his policies through.
