It looks like Bernie’s socialist dream is falling apart.
He tried to destroy America’s capitalist system from the inside.
But the Supreme Court just handed him one piece of bad news that ruined his plan.
One of the key pieces of Bernie Sanders’s socialist agenda is free college for everybody, an impossibly expensive plan that would effectively turn America socialist overnight.
It would require unbearable amounts of taxation and borrowing by the government and would totally destroy the U.S. economy.
With help from Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden implemented the first step in that plan by forgiving student loans for certain college graduates in 2022.
But Biden had no legal authority to make that decision, and now the Supreme Court may be on the verge of striking it down.
The Court is hearing the case right now to decide if the debt forgiveness program is constitutional, and they appear to be very skeptical of it.
According to the Washington Post, “Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. presented a hypothetical scenario involving two high school graduates – one who takes out a loan to attend college and the other who gets a loan to start a lawn care business.”
“Why is it fair, he asked Solicitor General Elizabeth B. Prelogar, to require the owner of the lawn service to essentially subsidize through tax payments loan forgiveness for the college graduate, who studies show will earn more money?”
The article continues, “Some conservative justices, including Neil Gorsuch, also raised the issue of the fairness of canceling student loan debt for some borrowers and not others, including people who have paid their loans and others who are not eligible.”
None of this sat well with Bernie Sanders, or his socialist sidekick Elizabeth Warren.
According to the Washington Examiner, they took to the streets to protest.
“A crowd of roughly 250 people rallied on the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday in support of President Joe Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan,” the Examiner reported.
“Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) joined the protestors to urge the 6-3 conservative majority Supreme Court to allow the debt cancellation to move forward to help those ‘drowning in student debt.’”
“Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) told the crowd that the ‘extremist’ Supreme Court must see that Biden has the legal authority to cancel the debt.”
“The student loan activists were joined by progressive leaders, including Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), and Cori Bush (D-MO),” the article continued.
These socialists can protest all they want, but it’s going to have little effect on the decision that the Supreme Court ultimately makes.
Supreme Court judges are a lifetime appointment and are not elected and re-elected. They don’t care who’s yelling and screaming outside of their building.
If the Left really wants to give a multi-billion dollar handout to young college graduates from wealthy families, they have to pass it through Congress.
Biden cannot simply act as a dictator and hand down this decree without it being voted on by the elected representatives of the people in Congress.
