Joe Biden and Kamala Harris told voters they believed in “racial justice.”
But now they’re in a heap of trouble.
Their records on throwing young black men in jail are coming to light, and voters aren’t happy.
Savvy political observers have known about Biden’s record for years. In 1994, he co-authored the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act, which led to black fathers being ripped from their homes and mass incarceration.
Many were shocked when as recently as 2016, Biden defended the bill.
Some have wondered whether Biden’s actions will take the Democratic Party back to its roots as a segregationist party. After all, Biden was known for being close friends with the late Sen. Robert Byrd, a former member of the KKK.
However, the liberal media did its best to keep Biden’s record under wraps during the campaign. They presented him as a “warrior” for “racial justice.”
Kamala Harris has a similar record of throwing innocent people in jail, many of them minorities. This flies in the face of her many boasts about being “the first black female VP” and an “inspiration.”
As Kat Timpf reports for Fox News, “one of these cases … involved George Gage, who was convicted of sexually abusing his own stepdaughter based almost entirely on her testimony. Then the judge found … that the prosecutor had unlawfully held back potentially exculpatory evidence, including medical reports indicating that the stepdaughter had repeatedly lied to law enforcement.”
The prosecutor in this case was Kamala Harris.
There are other examples too, including when Kamala was Attorney General of California. Timpf goes on to write, “In 2015, Johnny Baca was convicted of murder despite the fact that judges found a prosecutor had given false testimony at his trial. Harris still initially supported the conviction, changing her position only after the issues with this case had gained national attention.”
The liberal media has been very nervous about Kamala’s record seeing the light of day.
Just in the last couple of weeks, the Washington Post deleted part of a story where Kamala laughed about starving prisoners begging for food. They hoped people wouldn’t find out about her habit of mocking people’s suffering.
Many have wondered whether this story revealed the types of conditions Kamala’s prisoners had to live in under her rule in California.
These stories stand in sharp contrast to the moves Donald Trump made on criminal justice issues during his tenure as president.
For one, President Trump signed the “First Step Act” into law. This act made federal prison sentences less harsh and gave prisoners a chance to earn an early release if they reformed themselves and behaved well.
In addition, President Trump offered numerous pardons during his presidency to nonviolent drug offenders. Many of these people had been given very harsh sentences even though they never caused harm to anybody.
One of these pardons went to Alice Johnson, who went on to say she was free “by the grace of God and the compassion of President Donald John Trump.”
The liberal establishment often says that Republicans are racist against minorities and that Democrats are for “justice.” But in light of these revelations about Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, many are starting to question that narrative.
