The news simply cannot be trusted.
They are mouthpieces for the security state.
And now, one outlet’s secret relationship with the FBI has been exposed, and all hell is breaking loose.
Independent journalist Glenn Greenwald wrote a massive exposé on NBC and CNN, showing how they spread FBI propaganda under the guise of being a “news network.”
According to Greenwald, “Two of the television outlets on which American liberals rely most for their news – NBC News and CNN – have spent the last six years hiring a virtual army of former CIA operatives, FBI officials, NSA spies, Pentagon chiefs, and DOJ prosecutors to work in their newsrooms.”
Greenwald continues, “The multiple ways in which journalism is fundamentally corrupted by this spectacle are all vividly illustrated by a new article from NBC News that urges the prosecution and extradition of Julian Assange, claiming that the WikiLeaks founder, once on U.S. soil, will finally provide the long-elusive proof that Donald Trump criminally conspired with Russia.”
The article is written by Frank Figliuzzi, who used to be the Assistant Director of the FBI.
Figliuzzi is convinced, allegedly, that once Assange is in U.S. hands, they will be able to interrogate him into “spilling the beans” on Trump.
This is nonsense, of course, because Russiagate was a hoax and there is nothing to spill the beans on.
But what Figliuzzi really wants, along with his numerous former colleagues at the FBI, is to punish someone who exposed the U.S. security state for the crimes that they have committed.
They believe that they are above democracy, above accountability, and above the law. They believe the Constitution does not apply to them and they can do whatever they want for the sake of their own power.
This includes infiltrating media outlets. Greenwald’s article continues, “During the Cold War and then in the decades following it, the U.S. security state constantly used clandestine measures to infiltrate U.S. corporate media outlets and shape U.S. media coverage in order to propagandize the domestic population. Indeed intelligence agencies have a long, documented record of violating their charter by interfering in domestic politics through formal programs to manipulate U.S. media coverage.”
Some of the examples he lists include the CIA’s illegal domestic intelligence operation that was exposed by Seymour Hersh in 1974, and the many abuses documented by the Church Committee in 1976.
Additionally, in 2014, Ken Dilanian, who now reports for NBC News, was exposed for directly working with the CIA to spreading their propaganda.
It is clear that these media outlets have no interest in telling the truth or reporting the news.
They exist to lie on behalf of powerful people, and serve the interests of the U.S. security state. They are mouthpieces for the Deep State, plain and simple.
As Greenwald concludes his article, “These security state agencies were created to lie and spread disinformation; allowing them to place their top operatives at news outlets obliterates even the pretense that there is any separation between them and corporate journalism.”
