The Democratic Party is in huge trouble.
Even Chuck Schumer knows that they’re going down.
And he just made one shocking confession that is sending shockwaves through Washington.
Whenever one party has control of the White House, the opposing party almost always wins the midterm elections.
This happens because voters from the other party are angry and motivated to turn out.
Throughout recent history, this trend has been remarkably consistent.
In 2006, angry Democrats showed up in opposition to George W. Bush and voted Republicans out of office.
In 2010 and 2014, angry Republicans who hated Barack Obama showed up to the polls and voted Democrats out of office.
In 2018, angry Democrats who despised Donald Trump showed up to the polls and voted Republicans out of office.
Democrats were hoping that trend would reverse itself in 2022, but savvy political observers knew that was highly unlikely.
And now even Chuck Schumer is realizing that he and Nancy Pelosi are doomed.
According to Punchbowl News, “Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer privately told a group of Democratic senators Monday night that Speaker Nancy Pelosi is ‘in trouble’ and Democrats are going to lose the House.”
“These comments came during a dinner at Trattoria Alberto, an Italian restaurant on Capitol Hill frequented by lawmakers from both parties. Senators at the dinner included Chris Coons of Delaware, Mark Kelly of Arizona, Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, Tom Carper of Delaware, John Hickenlooper of Colorado, and Dick Durbin of Illinois.”
“The comments are in stark contrast to Pelosi’s declaration in recent days that not only would Democrats keep the House but they’d add to their slim majority.”
In other words, while Pelosi and Schumer are publicly stating they are confident about victory this November, in private they know that their ship is going down.
And if they were paying attention, they would have known that for a long time.
President Biden has low approval ratings, about the same as Donald Trump before his 2018 midterm. Democrats won over 40 House seats during the backlash to Trump. It stands to reason that a similar thing would happen to Biden.
But Democrats also live in a media bubble that is self-reinforcing and blissfully unaware of reality.
They live in liberal areas with like-minded liberals who all agree with them, and they assume the rest of the country does as well.
They are rarely if ever exposed to people with different viewpoints.
That’s why Biden and his fellow Democrats have been so overconfident about pursuing Left-wing policy goals that are unpopular with the general public – because they live in such a bubble that they don’t even realize how unpopular their ideas really are.
If Biden and the Democrats had governed from the center, and pursued a moderate political agenda, perhaps they wouldn’t be staring at such a decisive defeat in November.
But fortunately for the Republicans, that’s not what happened. And now even Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi are realizing that their time might be up.
