Gun owners have a powerful advocate on their side.
Ron DeSantis just declared war on the Left’s gun control schemes.
And now the gun control lobby knows they are in deep trouble, and they are panicking.
Few special interests are as powerful as the gun control lobby. Funded by Michael Bloomberg and others, they have intimidated many weak-kneed RINO politicians into backing down and accepting gun control.
But now that Ron DeSantis has taken the mantle as a new leader of the GOP, the gun control lobby has realized that they have met their match.
They thought that in a state like Florida, which experienced the Parkland shooting 4 years ago and has lower rates of gun ownership than some other Republican states, they might be able to sneak through legislation to grab guns and attack the Second Amendment.
But now that the Florida Legislature is coming back into session, Ron DeSantis has made one thing clear: Second Amendment rights in Florida will be protected, defended, and expanded.
Gun control is unwelcome in Florida as long as DeSantis is governor.
According to a report from Florida News Channel 8, “Gov. Ron DeSantis is urging lawmakers to pass legislation that would change Florida law to allow gun owners to carry a gun in public without a permit.”
“A major change to Florida’s gun laws looks all but certain in the coming legislative session as high-ranking lawmakers back the governor’s pledge to make them happen.”
Similar laws, known as Constitutional Carry, have passed in 25 other states. Florida is looking to become the 26th, and one of the largest states, alongside Texas, to have Constitutional Carry laws.
The article continues, “Florida’s law does not require a permit to buy or own a gun, but it does require gun owners to have a concealed weapons permit to carry the firearm in public.”
This is a violation of the Second Amendment. The entire purpose of the Second Amendment is to achieve a balance of power between the people and the government. Agents of the state are allowed to carry weapons in public, so the American people should be allowed to freely do so as well, without needing a permission slip from the government.
DeSantis agrees, and he is doing something about it. The article continues, “The bill governor DeSantis is expecting from the GOP-led legislature would change that, allowing people to carry guns without a concealed weapons permit.”
“With a supermajority, Republican lawmakers have the numbers to push through legislation that would change Florida law to allow residents to carry concealed guns without a permit.”
“Many think DeSantis will make a bid for president, meaning if he wants to get this done, expect it sooner rather than later.”
If this is true and DeSantis does run for President, as most people expect, the Second Amendment will be a core part of his campaign pitch.
And if he becomes the next President in 2024, gun owners will finally have an advocate in the White House who will fully defend their rights, even when it is politically difficult.
