Chuck Schumer nearly put America on a collision course for war.
But his plan came crashing down.
And it’s all because of one shocking move Rand Paul made.
Democrats desperately want to go to war with Russia. They are blind to the apocalyptic consequences of a nuclear war that could result from those actions.
Of course, no one disputes that Vladimir Putin is a very bad guy and a reckless dictator.
But keeping the American public safe from nuclear war should be more important than settling scores with an old enemy.
After all, if you manage to take out Vladimir Putin, but in the process you allow millions of Americans to be killed by nuclear war, who really won?
Democrat politicians don’t see it that way though. And that’s why they tried to sneak a resolution through Congress that would have put America on a path to war with Russia.
The resolution stated “[The Senate] encourages the President that, should any further invasion or other malign activity to undermine the sovereignty of Ukraine occur by Russia, the United States Government should exhaust all tools at its disposal to impose significant costs on the Russian Federation,” according to a report by The Hill.
The key phrase there is “all tools at its disposal.” If this were to pass into law, it would be encouraging the President to use military force and nuclear weapons, since it doesn’t say “some tools” or “a lot of tools”…it says “all tools at its disposal” which includes nuclear weapons.
Of course, Russia has over 6,000 nuclear weapons of their own, ready to fire back at us. 6,000 nuclear weapons would incinerate all life on Earth.
What’s worse, Democrat Congressional leaders tried to sneak this resolution through by using “unanimous consent” which is a way of skipping a vote.
And that’s where Rand Paul comes in.
One Senator has the power to object to a unanimous consent resolution. If one Senator objects, the resolution has to be voted on.
Chuck Schumer didn’t want that, because it would mean his Democrat Senators would have to go on record as supporting a nuclear war against Russia.
None of the other Senators had the courage to object to this resolution, since everyone is competing to appear “tough on Russia.”
But Rand Paul didn’t care about the political consequences, he cared about keeping Americans safe.
Paul had this to say about the resolution: “We have some amendments to it. We believe that it should say: ‘Nothing in this resolution is to be construed as an authorization of war and nothing in this resolution is to be construed as authorizing the use of troops into Ukraine.’”
According to the report from The Hill, “Paul said that he offered the amendments to the sponsors of the resolution on Wednesday night but they were rejected.”
This clearly shows that the authors of the resolution really were trying to authorize troops to go into Ukraine and set off World War 3.
The fact that the Democrats tried to pass a resolution like this is incredibly dangerous.
And the fact that so many Republicans were on board with it, trying to appear “tough on Russia” and risking nuclear war, is incredibly disappointing.
