Is this the end for Rachel Maddow?
She used to be the Left’s favorite TV pundit and was wildly successful bashing Republicans.
But now Americans have gotten so tired of her that her whole career is falling apart.
MSNBC is not going to be happy with the most recent news they have gotten about Rachel Maddow. She used to be their star personality, but now things are going south in a hurry.
This is bad news for the network, and will have a major impact on their overall ratings.
According to a report from Conservative Brief, “Popular MSNBC host Rachel Maddow recently returned from her nearly two-month hiatus to reveal that she’s going to be taking more time off and only be on air once a week. Since then, Maddow has returned to the network on a new schedule.”
This new schedule is not working out well at all. The article continues, “Maddow only hosts her own show on Mondays and Alex Wagner was named the permanent host of the 9 PM ET show on Tuesday through Friday nights. The ‘Maddow experiment’ apparently has ‘executives worried’ as the show’s ratings have plummeted.”
The article reports that the show has lost over 30% of its audience and around 1 million viewers, including in key demographics.
According to the article, “Essentially, Maddow is being paid $30 million per year and is only hosting her program once a week. And her show is tanking in the ratings, which is costing the network even more money.”
Media critic Jeffrey McCall had this to say about the dramatic fall in Maddow’s ratings: “MSNBC execs have to be concerned by this weak primetime showing. Maddow’s show has for a long time been a tent pole for MSNBC’s entire evening, delivering audiences for the 9 p.m. hour, but also boosting viewership in the hours before and after.”
Forbes painted a bigger, gloomier picture of the entire situation for MSNBC. “While Comcast’s MSNBC was one of only a handful of cable networks to average over one million primetime viewers, its average audience of 1.20 million viewers, a sharp -22% decline from 2022. In mid-August Rachel Maddow, the host of MSNBC’s top-rated ‘The Rachel Maddow Show’ cut back her on-air hours from weeknights to just Mondays, enabling her to work on other projects. In addition, earlier in 2022 Maddow had gone on hiatus, impacting ratings.”
MSNBC has long been the go-to cable network for Left-wing people who wanted to hear things that they agree with and be told that they’re right over and over again.
With Rachel Maddow’s ratings plummeting, however, it seems that these Left-wing viewers are going to have to find another channel to tell them exactly what they want to hear.
In this day and age of Left-wing media, that should not be too difficult for most of them. And with that kind of competition, MSNBC is worried.
It seems that the problems for MSNBC are going to get worse, not better, without one of their biggest Left-wing pundits.
