The left is having a meltdown over Trump’s Secretary of Defense.
Things are getting nasty and personal very quickly.
And Pete Hegseth was just attacked in a way that’ll make your jaw drop.
Pete Hegseth’s qualifications to be the Secretary of Defense were not exactly conventional, which is a fact that Democrats have seized on ever since his nomination was announced.
But then again, many of his predecessors in this hugely important role have also had qualifications that would have forced them to learn on the job.
Obama’s Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, for example, served in Vietnam, but had no military experience beyond that aside from the work he did as a U.S. Senator.
This gave him effectively the same amount of experience Hegseth had, as Hegseth also served in the military, and then went on to a career studying and talking about the military on TV.
But Democrats will not let go of the idea that Hegseth is not qualified, and they are hammering it home.
And Hakeem Jeffries just delivered a nasty and personal insult to Hegseth that caught the attention of many people and included some very disturbing allegations.
According to Townhall, “In the video, he refers to Hegseth as a DEI hire. But in this case, he stressed that DEI stood for ‘dumb effing individuals’ who ‘try to test our resolve and cancel our history.’”
Here is part of what Jeffries said: “The latest is a book ban at the Naval Academy that removes works, including those about slavery, the civil rights movement, and the Holocaust. At the same time, keeping books written by Adolf Hitler. Apparently, for these extremists, racist, Nazi ideology and white supremacy is okay.”
“What Jeffries failed to mention is that he and his comrades ‘reversed’ nothing. That content was removed due to errors and misunderstandings – intentional or unintentional – of what President Trump’s executive orders regarding DEI in the federal government meant. When it was revealed that these items had either been flagged or removed, officials quickly put them back on the website.”
“The Democrats’ current outrage stems from reports noting that the Naval Academy removed 381 books from its Nimitz Library to comply with Trump’s executive orders on DEI.”
“In some of these stories, it is understandable why there might be confusion. Some might be overreacting because they genuinely are not 100 percent sure whether some content can be considered DEI.”
In other words, there might be some valid criticism about the lack of specificity in the order which made it unclear what actually needed to be removed and what did not.
But what is abundantly clear is that Hegseth wasn’t trying to support Hitler or the Holocaust, as Jeffries implied, but rather had his order misinterpreted.
