Joe Biden’s support is getting thinner by the day.
He doesn’t even have his entire party behind him anymore.
And one top Democrat just gave up on Joe Biden altogether.
Kyrsten Sinema came into office in 2012 when she was first elected to Congress as a typical Left-wing politician.
Her positions were reliably progressive on nearly every issue, and most political observers assumed she would govern that way when she got to Congress.
But once Sinema saw the corruption of the Left, she realized she couldn’t be a part of this racket anymore.
She became a U.S. Senator in 2018, but the switch really flipped for her when Joe Biden took office in January 2021.
Sinema had endorsed Biden during his campaign, but she quickly realized what a disaster he was for the country after he took office.
She became one of the biggest thorns in the side of the Biden administration.
They technically had a 50-50 majority in the Senate, since Vice President Kamala Harris was serving as the tiebreaker, but Sinema, along with Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, refused to allow them to destroy the filibuster and pass a tidal wave of Left-wing legislation.
This got her censured by her local Democratic Party. According to an NPR article from January of 2022, “Arizona’s Democratic Party is rebuking one of its own. Its executive board voted on Saturday to censure Sen. Kyrsten Sinema over her opposition to changing the filibuster.”
Now, Sinema is fed up and done. She has decided to leave the Democratic Party in the dust and become an independent.
In an op-Ed she wrote for AZ Central, Sinema had this to say: “In catering to the fringes, neither party has demonstrated much tolerance for diversity of thought. Bipartisan compromise is seen as a rarely acceptable last resort, rather than the best way to achieve lasting progress. Payback against the opposition party has replaced thoughtful legislating.”
“Americans are told that we only have two choices – Democrat or Republican – and that we must subscribe wholesale to policy views the parties hold, views that have been pulled further and further towards the extremes.”
Sinema is clearly tired of the extremism in the Democratic Party, and she simply cannot take it anymore. That is why she is leaving.
This is a major embarrassment to the Biden administration. After all, Sinema was one of Biden’s top backers in 2020 – a Democrat Senator from an important swing state.
If she now refuses to identify as a Democrat, and will not support Biden any further, it opens the door for a Republican like Ron DeSantis to take back the state of Arizona in 2024 and make it Republican again.
Joe Biden thinks he’s on a glide path to re-election in 2024, but things are becoming more complicated for him by the day. And Sinema’s defection will not help things for him.
If Republicans can choose a good presidential candidate in 2024, they may have a better chance than ever of defeating 82-year old Joe Biden and restoring America.
