One of the most powerful judges in America proved to be a snake in the grass.
He did the dirty work of the abortion industry.
Now, his secret attempts to save Roe v. Wade are being exposed for the world to see.
Chief Justice John Roberts has been one of the worst judges on the Supreme Court in recent years. His goal has been to protect the “public perception of the Court,” not to defend the Constitution.
He famously voted to uphold Obamacare, even though the federal government had no Constitutional authority to mandate someone to purchase health insurance.
He has been responsible for nominating judges to the FISA court who are totally subservient to the intelligence community and refuse to protect the Fourth Amendment.
Now it has been revealed that Roberts lobbied the Court to protect Roe v. Wade, even though Roe v. Wade had no basis in the Constitution whatsoever.
According to AlterNet, “When the U.S. Supreme Court voted, 5-4, to overturn Roe v. Wade with its decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, Chief Justice John Roberts was the only Republican dissenter. Roberts joined the other Republican-appointed justices in voting to uphold the restrictive Mississippi abortion law that was examined in Dobbs – that part of Dobbs was a 6-3 ruling – but he opposed overturning Roe. And according to CNN legal analyst Joan Biskupic, Roberts tried unsuccessfully to get some of his fellow Republicans to join him in voting not to overturn Roe.”
How far did Roberts go in his efforts to keep the abortion industry humming along throughout America?
The answer is, he went far enough that he may well have succeeded had it not been for the leak.
“Chief Justice John Roberts privately lobbied fellow conservatives to save the constitutional right to abortion down to the bitter end, but May’s unprecedented leak of a draft opinion reversing Roe v. Wade made the effort all but impossible,” the report continued.
“Roberts’ overtures this spring, particularly to Kavanaugh, raised fears among conservatives and hope among liberals that the chief could change the outcome in the most closely watched case in decades. Once the draft was published by Politico, conservatives pressed their colleagues to try to hasten release of the final decision, lest anything suddenly threaten their majority. Roberts’ persuasive efforts, difficult even from the start, were thwarted by the sudden public nature of the state of play.”
The fact that Kavanaugh was the prime target of Roberts is very revealing as well.
Kavanaugh is a former Bush administration official, and his worldview tends to align with those types of Republicans.
“The 2018 appointee of former President Donald Trump, who had been confirmed by the Senate only after expressing respect for Roe, has wavered in the past and been open to Roberts’ persuasion.”
The fact that the Supreme Court ultimately overturned Roe v. Wade is a great thing for unborn children.
But it was not without unnecessary drama from some of the flakiest members of the Supreme Court.
