Kamala Harris’s best friend made a big mistake by letting this slip.
She clearly forgot loose lips sink ships.
And she let the public in on a bombshell secret about Kamala Harris.
One of the biggest threats for a presidential candidate is insiders within the campaign getting too chatty with the media.
There’s a tremendous amount of media coverage of presidential candidates and reporters are very adept at getting people to talk.
And that’s exactly what seems to have happened with Sen. Chris Coons, who is the co-chair of Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign and one of her closest allies.
Coons and Harris served together in the Senate and he has good insight into how she thinks about various issues.
And while Harris has generally tried to portray herself during the campaign as someone who will treat Israel as an ally, that may not be the full truth.
Coons made some comments during an interview that could end up backfiring on Harris big-time with people who want the U.S. to help Israel.
According to Breitbart, “On Tuesday’s ‘CNN News Central,’ Harris-Walz Campaign Co-Chair Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) responded to a question on if 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris will change America’s policy towards Israel by stating that Harris and President Joe Biden have stood by Israel, while also being critical of it and there’s a ‘very real possibility that there will be further movement in that direction.’”
The strong implication here is that Harris is pretending to “stand by Israel” for the sake of her campaign but once she takes office there may be “movement” in a different direction.
“Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have stood strongly by Israel, defending Israel when attacked by Iran, defending Israel against proxies in the region. But they have also raised repeated concerns about humanitarian issues in Gaza. And, just a few weeks ago, the secretary of state and secretary of defense sent a letter to the Israeli government saying, you have to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, to not do so is a violation of law. I think that shows both the balance in the President and Vice President’s position, and the very real possibility that there will be further movement in that direction,” said Coons.
It’s clear Coons doesn’t have the friendliest view towards Israel and would like to see the administration take a harsher line against them.
But Harris knows many of her constituents are supportive of Israel and she can’t afford to lose any more support in such a close race.
