The conservative movement may soon lose one of its biggest stars.
Democrats are going all in to try and defeat him.
And an authoritarian ex-CIA agent may be the one to replace him.
For many years, Sen. Mike Lee of Utah has been one of the most solid votes for liberty in the entire U.S. Senate.
He has stood strong for free speech, the right to bear arms, the right to not get spied on by the government, and an America First foreign policy.
By holding to those principles, he has become a superstar of the national conservative movement.
But now Democrats have teamed up with neocon Republicans to get behind Evan McMullin, a former CIA agent and a rabid neocon who is running as an independent against Mike Lee.
Deseret News, a major newspaper in the western United States, conducted a poll to see where the race stands between Lee and McMullin.
And in a major shock, McMullin is within 4 points of surpassing Lee.
According to Deseret News, “In the poll, 41% of Utahns would vote for Lee and 37% for McMullin in a general election. Another 19% don’t know who they would vote for, while 4% would choose someone else. Two third-party candidates have qualified for the November ballot.”
This poll shows that Lee is not dead in the water by any means, but is at major risk of being supplanted by a former CIA agent who believes in an authoritarian federal government that spies on its citizens and targets them at will.
Part of the reason why this is happening is because the Democrat Party of Utah decided not to run a candidate of its own, and instead to throw its weight behind McMullin.
The article continued, “In an unprecedented move, the Utah Democratic Party voted to not advance a candidate in the Senate race and threw its support behind McMullin.”
That has shown to be a successful strategy, judging by the poll results.
“According to the poll, 64% of Democrats choose McMullin, though 29% said they don’t know. McMullin had the edge over Lee among unaffiliated voters 38% to 27%, with 28% undecided.”
McMullin, of course, is a menace to the Constitution who shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near the U.S. Senate.
If he becomes a U.S. Senator, the influence of the CIA and the Deep State will grow even larger, as they will have one of their own walking the halls of Congress and influencing policy.
But the fact that McMullin is polling so closely to Mike Lee, a superstar of the conservative movement, shows that conservatives and Republicans need to be careful this November.
The American people are suffering at the hands of Joe Biden’s policies, and the focus needs to be on that – not on Donald Trump’s gripes about the 2020 election.
The more Republicans focus on petty personal feuds, the more everyday American voters will tune them out.
The focus needs to be on the real harm that Joe Biden is doing to the American people, and the danger of electing CIA candidates like Evan McMullin.
