Joe Biden is slipping away and it is not easy for his friends to watch.
That became very obvious at the recent debate.
And one CNN commentator who is friends with Biden broke down in sadness.
Democrats are urging Biden to make the hard decision to step aside from the presidential race, as he simply cannot do it anymore.
Even some of his closest friends and allies have concluded that he is simply too far gone and that it would be irresponsible for him to continue running for re-election.
American voters already knew that, but the recent debate confirmed it in a very sad and public way that is undeniable.
Liberal commentators who were prepared to give their positive spin on Biden’s performance after the debate were left speechless.
They were simply unable to defend the train wreck that had just taken place, and they had to admit the truth.
Van Jones is a longtime Democrat who now contributes for CNN.
He didn’t want to deliver the tough news about Biden, but after the debate he simply broke down and spoke from the heart about the man he considers a friend.
According to The Daily Beast, “Ex-Barack Obama adviser Van Jones’ voice cracked as he searched for the words to describe Joe Biden’s disaster of a debate on Thursday, musing that Democrats may need a new candidate to oppose Donald Trump.
“Jones, now a CNN political analyst, was among the first on the network to break down Biden’s performance, in which he sounded hoarse, gave incoherent answers, and looked lost for large swaths of the night.”
There was simply no way to watch the debate and not come away with the conclusion that Biden can’t get the job done anymore.
To say otherwise would be like saying that the sky is green. No one listening would ever believe it.
The article continues, “The comments from Jones, who’s never shied away from showing his admiration for Biden over the years, was an indictment on just how poorly the president performed.
“Jones, like others on CNN’s post-debate panel, suggested its time for the DNC to seriously consider nominating someone new at the Democratic convention in August—though he stopped short at suggesting who that someone should be.”
“Jones added that Biden lost it ‘in the first three minutes.’ Countless other analysts have noted the same—that Biden, who could barely be understood, struggled to speak clearly when given the first question of the night. He appeared frail and unfocussed, which, at 81, is the exact opposite of what his camp were hoping he’d portray.”
It’s worth pointing out that The Daily Beast itself is a very left-leaning publication that would certainly not say things like this about Biden unless it were absolutely undeniable.
Biden and his family have to come to terms with reality. He was 78 when he took office, and if re-elected he would be 86 when he leaves.
Seeing him now, it is hard to imagine what kind of state Biden will be in at age 86.
