Things are starting to turn sour for Nancy Pelosi.
She’s been fighting to regain power in the Democrat Party.
But MSNBC delivered her some crushing news that could cause everything to collapse.
Nancy Pelosi never seems like she’s able to step away from power.
She was Speaker from 2007-2011 until Republicans swept the 2010 elections in dramatic fashion in backlash to the Obama administration.
And generally, when the Speaker’s party loses, they do not try to make a comeback and become Speaker again.
But Pelosi was an exception as she continued leading the Democrats and fought to retake the Speaker’s gavel.
Ultimately, she was successful in 2018 – after eight years of Republican rule – and returned as Speaker in 2019.
Now, even after formally relinquishing her leadership position, she’s still dominating Democrat politics.
But MSNBC is over it.
According to the Daily Mail, “Jen Psaki blasted the ‘old guard’ of the Democrat Party for denying Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez the party’s lead on the House Oversight Committee.”
“Some in the party’s far left have argued that Ocasio-Cortez, 35, stood an opportunity to put a new generation of liberals in power, whereas Connolly is 74 and was recently diagnosed with cancer.”
Psaki isn’t just some random commentator. She’s Joe Biden’s former press secretary and was one of MSNBC’s prize hires when she came on board.
“Ocasio-Cortez continues looking for ways to enhance her political profile, especially after Democrats lost the Senate, the House, and the presidency to President-elect Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans in the 2024 election.”
“Psaki then expressed disappointment in Nancy Pelosi, who was a key backer for Connolly’s bid to become chair.”
“While I have deep, deep respect for Speaker Pelosi, and nothing against Congressman Connolly at all, this felt like an obvious chance to apply some of the lessons we should’ve learned from the November election,” said Psaki.
Psaki couched her statement in respectful terms, but the implication is clear – Democrats need to hand the party over to a younger generation.
Pelosi is very liberal, of course, but she’s also very old and it may be nice to let some fresher Democrats give the party brand a facelift.
