Joe Scarborough has officially announced his hatred for the Constitution.
He doesn’t think people should be allowed to disagree with his liberal views.
Now he is taking aim at free speech and the First Amendment.
One of the Left’s most persistent and dangerous arguments is that the Constitution is outdated and should be abandoned.
They think that because it was written 250 years ago by old white men, it is archaic and bad and should be replaced by something else.
What should it be replaced by? They won’t say. One can only assume it would be a socialist system similar to what Cuba and Venezuela have, or perhaps even Communist China.
Joe Scarborough of MSNBC looks at those countries with extreme jealousy, because they don’t have that pesky system of free speech that our country has.
You see in our country, people are allowed to have different political views and they cannot be arrested or censored by the government.
This means if someone wants to be a liberal, or someone wants to be a conservative, or if someone wants to be something else entirely – a communist, a fascist, an anarchist – they are allowed to speak their mind no matter what.
Joe Scarborough sees that as a threat to his liberal ideology, and he wants to end it.
That’s why he invited a New York Times editorial board member named Mara Gay on his show to trash the First Amendment.
Gay had this to say about the First Amendment: “The problem here is that the world has changed, and so to your point, Joe, now you have companies that are actually not journalistic organizations that are disseminating information, some of it factual, some of it dangerous, some of it hate speech, and they are, they essentially have no responsibility for the consequences of that.”
Unfortunately for Mara Gay and Joe Scarborough, not having “consequences” for speech is a feature of our system, not a bug.
We do not allow our government to impose “consequences” on people for saying things that Mara Gay and Joe Scarborough disagree with.
If we start allowing people to get punished by the government for what liberals consider to be “hate speech,” then we are opening up Pandora’s box, and our country will never be the same.
Gay continued, “I don’t think we can allow it to go on as it has where there’s no consequences and people can make money, in fact, to your point while this information that is tearing the country apart and by the way providing disinformation.”
She wants her political enemies harassed by the government for their free speech and possibly thrown in jail, just like her heroes in Cuba and Venezuela would have done.
Luckily for those of us who actually love our country, the First Amendment can only be repealed by a two-thirds vote of Congress, and a vote of 3/4 of the states, or by an Article V Constitutional Convention.
It cannot be repealed by a vote of MSNBC hosts.
