This was a totally inappropriate thing for Kamala Harris’s husband to do.
Her campaign is going to have a serious problem on its hands.
He went off the rails on live TV and did something very bad.
Apparently Kamala Harris’s husband, Doug Emhoff, has a new strategy to combat the widespread perception that the Democratic Party is anti-Semitic, and that is to call Donald Trump anti-Semitic.
He almost certainly knows that the Palestine protests that have been taking place on college campuses have tarnished the reputation of the Democratic Party.
People have seen the growing hatred of Israel, and frequently the open anti-Semitism, of radical progressive college students, as well as the refusal of many Democrats to condemn them.
That is evidently why he took it on himself to hit back during a live TV interview, but in doing so he may have created a whole new set of problems for his wife’s campaign.
He accused Donald Trump of anti-Semitism despite the fact that Trump’s daughter is a Jewish convert.
And he made some really gross comments about Trump that are surely going to backfire on their campaign.
According to Breitbart, “Second gentleman Doug Emhoff said Thursday on MSNBC’s ‘The Last Word’ that former President Donald Trump is putting a target on the backs of Jewish Americans with his rhetoric.”
Here is part of what Emhoff said: “What really bothered me a week or so ago was when Trump got up at an event purporting to fight anti-Semitism and he said vile anti-Semitic things, long tropes that are just terrible. We have to speak out every single time when something like that happens. So I’m going to continue not to be afraid, not to be intimidated. Not to live in fear, but to live openly and proudly as a Jewish person.”
Despite what Emhoff said, Trump is not the one who has been harassing Jewish students on college campuses.
He has close family members who are Jewish, and it is disgusting for Emhoff to suggest that Trump hates them.
Emhoff continued, “Take him at his word. He lies about a lot of things but you have two take him at his word on things like this. This is a disgusting trope, the so-called dual loyalties. It is an outrage. And it is not just Jewish people who should be outraged.”
Trump never said that Jewish people have “dual loyalties,” Emhoff simply made that up out of thin air in an attempt to smear Trump.
And while MSNBC viewers will surely love watching this segment and hearing someone tell them everything that want to hear, normal Americans will be disgusted by what Emhoff said.
No one sincerely believes that Trump is anti-Semitic, and swing voters who are deciding who to support in this election will be turned off by the comments Emhoff made during his interview.
He may have severely harmed his wife’s campaign in an attempt to smear her opponent, an attempt that backfired and will end up doing far more harm than good.
