This was not something that Kamala Harris was ready for.
She thought she had the election in the bag.
But Trump had a brilliant trick up his sleeve that sent her spiraling.
Kamala Harris routinely tries to play the “feminist” card against her political enemies, taking advantage of the fact that she is a woman and using that to shield against criticism.
For example, in her 2020 debate with Mike Pence for vice president, Harris gave a snappy response of “I’m speaking!” when Pence tried to correct the record on something.
She did this in the hopes that it would rile up women who have grievances against men and think men are always trying to silence them.
Harris surely was hoping to have a similar moment during this debate which she could use as a feminist rallying cry for women voters.
But instead, Trump turned the tables on her and essentially used her own line against her, which threw Harris for a loop.
He turned the tables on her by using perhaps her most famous line to his advantage in a dramatic moment during the debate.
According to Breitbart, “Former President Donald Trump mocked Vice President Kamala Harris during Tuesday night’s debate after she attempted to interrupt him, turning her infamous ‘I’m speaking’ moment against her.”
“During the debate, Trump gave the audience a brief overview of how Harris has continually changed her positions on key subjects for the sake of political expediency, beginning with fracking.”
When Harris tried to interrupt him, Trump hit back with: “Wait a minute. I’m talking now. You don’t mind, please. Does that sound familiar?”
Trump knew that Harris would hate hearing this turned around on her, as she seems to believe that she is entitled to interrupt him but he is not entitled to interrupt her.
It turned out to be a pivotal moment in the debate as it prevented Harris from having her own such moment as a feminist rallying cry.
The article continues, “In other words, Trump took Harris’s ‘I’m speaking’ moment — gleaned from the 2020 vice presidential debates between herself and former Vice President Mike Pence — and used it to his advantage. During that debate, she spoke over Pence as he interjected, condescendingly stating, ‘I’m speaking,’ with a grin across her face.”
“Some say Harris’s team objected to muted mics for this very reason, hoping that she would be able to have another female power ‘I’m speaking’ moment. It seems Trump is the one who got it.”
Harris cannot be happy about these developments, as she surely thought she was entitled to have such a feminist moment during the debate.
Now there is no telling when she will have another opportunity to turn the tables back on Trump, as they have not agreed to another debate yet.
The media is busy hyping up Harris’s performance during the debate in an effort to propel her to the White House.
But it seems far more likely that she didn’t do enough to reverse her sliding momentum.
