Kamala Harris is the most ambitious politician in Washington.
And with Biden’s approval rating in free fall, she may be planning to stage her own presidential run in 2024.
But now, Harris herself just got news that could end her career.
Kamala Harris has had a terrible 2021.
After failing in her own presidential bid last year by dropping out even before the Iowa Caucuses, Harris was tapped by Biden to serve as his running mate, setting herself up to potentially succeed him to the office of President.
And now, with Biden’s approval ratings in complete free fall, Harris is potentially gearing up for a second run at the Presidency, as the heir apparent of the Democratic Party by virtue of serving as Biden’s Vice-President.
But after one shock poll dropped, Harris’ own political future may be even bleaker than Biden’s.
Less than one week after Democrats suffered a crushing defeat in Virginia’s gubernatorial election and were humiliated in New Jersey when Republicans nearly defeated Democrat Governor Phil Murphy despite political pundits saying the race would be a Democrat blowout, a new USA Today/Suffolk poll shows that Democrats nationwide are on the verge of complete collapse in the 2022 elections.
But perhaps even more shocking were the approval numbers the American people assigned to Biden and Harris.
USA Today reports, “A year before the 2022 midterm elections, Republicans hold a clear lead on the congressional ballot as President Joe Biden’s approval rating sinks to a new low of 38%.
A USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll, taken Wednesday through Friday, found that Biden’s support cratered among the independent voters who delivered his margin of victory over President Donald Trump one year ago.”
With just a dismal 38% approval rating, Joe Biden is now officially the most unpopular president in American history at this point in their administration, with an absolute majority of Americans saying they disapprove of his job in office.
But even worse was Kamala Harris’ own approval rating.
Harris clocked in the single worst approval rating of any Vice President in modern history, with just 28% of Americans saying they approve of her job, which is 10% worse than Biden’s own historically bad ratings.
With Republicans enjoying an 8-point advantage in the generic ballot for next year, it’s almost guaranteed that Democrats would lose control of both the House and the Senate if the election were held today.
“If the election were today, those surveyed say, they would vote for their Republican congressional candidate over the Democratic one by 46%-38%, an advantage that would bode well for GOP hopes of gaining a majority in the House and the Senate. In a president’s first midterm election, his party usually loses ground, and this time the GOP needs to flip just five seats in the House and one in the Senate to claim control,” adds USA Today.
The poll represents just the latest in a long decline for Biden and Harris, who have seen their approval ratings collapse since late August.
