This has been a dangerous election for the two nominees.
Kamala Harris found herself in a situation that had everyone terrified.
But she managed to narrowly escape.
Even if someone dislikes the opposing nominee for president, no one should wish harm on another human being for the simple fact of having different political views than they do.
This goes for Democrats who dislike Trump and for Republicans who dislike Kamala Harris. The same principle applies to both sides, no matter how strong their opposing views are.
Unfortunately, some Democrats did not heed this advice when Trump was shot at back in July, as there was a vocal minority who celebrated the attack on him.
Thankfully, most elected Democrats did the right thing and expressed shock at the violence committed against him and were thankful he was okay.
Now, Kamala Harris has experienced a dangerous situation of her own, as her motorcade was almost hit on the highway by a wrong-way driver in Wisconsin.
Thankfully, no one was hurt, but things could have easily been far worse.
According to CNN, “A suspected drunken driver drove toward Vice President Kamala Harris’ motorcade while going the wrong way on an interstate in downtown Milwaukee Monday night.”
“Just before 8:30 p.m., a 55-year-old Milwaukee man driving an SUV traveled westbound in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 94 at the Marquette Interchange, approaching the motorcade, according to James Burnett, spokesperson for the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office. As it drew closer to the motorcade, deputies stopped the SUV, Burnett said.”
The fact the driver was stopped before running into anybody is something everyone should be thankful for.
The article continues, “Deputies, who suspected the driver was impaired and saw an open container of alcohol in the car, conducted field sobriety tests and took other investigative measures, according to Burnett. They then took the driver into custody on recommended charges of operating while intoxicated and recklessly endangering safety.”
“The Wisconsin Department of Transportation didn’t immediately respond to a request for video of the incident on Tuesday night. Video obtained by CNN affiliate WISN shows a vehicle moving slowly in a left-hand lane in the opposite direction while a collection of vehicles pass to the right.”
It’s a good thing police did their job, just as the Secret Service did during the second assassination attempt on Trump at his golf course.
Hopefully this means law enforcement has learned from their inexcusable mistakes at Trump’s rally in Butler, PA, when he was shot in the ear.
