No one has fought for free speech harder than Joe Rogan.
One leftist came on his show and tried to push for more government censorship.
But Joe Rogan destroyed him and stood up for the First Amendment.
One of the things Joe Rogan’s podcast is known for is having a diverse range of guests on the show to talk about various topics.
Of course, “diverse” in this case doesn’t just mean racially diverse, which the Left is obsessed with. It is diverse in the true sense of the word – a wide range of people with different backgrounds, different political views, different religions, and different areas of expertise.
That’s what has made his show so popular. He is willing to talk with just about anybody, even people he disagrees with.
One recent guest on the podcast was Jann Wenner, the founder of Rolling Stone magazine.
Wenner is a leftist, while Rogan is a moderate, so their views were never going to perfectly align. But that’s a normal occurrence on the Rogan podcast.
What made this podcast quite different is that Wenner actively campaigned for the government censorship of free speech, which goes against the very core mission of Rogan’s podcast.
And while Rogan, true to his style, allowed Wenner to have his say, he quickly made it clear that he was not on board with Wenner’s radical views about clamping down on free speech.
According to the Gateway Pundit, “In a recent interview with Rolling Stone Magazine’s founder Jann Wenner for the Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan humiliated Wenner by pointing out his ridiculous views on internet regulation and exposed his love of big government.”
Wenner had this to say about clamping down on free speech on the Internet: “The Internet’s great, and I love social media, you know? But like every other industry in the United States, it has to be regulated.”
Rogan responded, “But who regulates it?” To which Wenner replied, “The government.”
Rogan wasn’t about to let that go. He pushed back by saying, “Do you trust the government to regulate the Internet?” And Wenner said, “Absolutely.”
Wenner was clearly a bit confused about who actually works for the government and who would do the regulating. He seemed to think it would always be regulated by his progressive friends.
But Rogan made it clear that censorship would actually be carried out by people Wenner doesn’t like.
“You trust the people that got us into the Iraq War under false pretenses to regulate the Internet? Do you think that makes any sense?”
Wenner then hesitated for a second and stumbled over his words. “I would not….the people that got us into the Iraq War….”
“It’s the government,” Rogan said.
People on the Left think that censorship is great as long as their progressive-minded friends are censoring “evil” and “backwards” conservative voices.
But censorship is an impossible thing to control.
Once you cross the Rubicon of letting the government shut down speech, you open Pandora’s box for all kinds of outcomes that you didn’t intend.
And then everybody is worse off, as Joe Rogan made clear on his podcast.
