The Biden Department of Justice is caught in an earth-shattering scandal.
Their plot to use the FBI to target Christians got busted.
And now Merrick Garland is in deep trouble as America learns the truth about what he did.
The Biden administration has an unhealthy level of paranoia about what “right-wing groups” are supposedly doing to tear down democracy.
While it’s true that there are people on the right who are against democracy, it is fortunately still a small group of people.
That’s not how the Biden administration sees it though. They have some wild theories about what people on the right are doing.
Recently an FBI memo was leaked that showed that the bureau was scared that “Traditionalist Catholics” would try to overthrow democracy.
It reeks of old-school conspiracy theories that people held against Catholics, such as believing that a Catholic should never be elected to public office because they would try to put the Pope in charge of the country.
The FBI claims that they never acted on this memo, but when Senator Josh Hawley pressed A.G. Merrick Garland, he wavered on his answer.
Here is what Garland said, according to PJ Media: “I don’t know, and I don’t believe we have any informants aimed at Catholic churches. We have a rule against, uh, investigations based on First Amendment, um, activity, and uh, uh, uh, Catholic churches are obviously, uh, First Amendment activity. But I don’t know the specific answer to your question.”
He doesn’t know the specific answer to the question. He cannot specifically say, under oath, that there were no spies planted in Catholic churches.
That almost certainly means there were spies in Catholic churches. The FBI was targeting the largest religious organization in the world because they were scared of their views.
PJ Media had this to say about Garland’s non-answer: “It was astonishing enough that Garland couldn’t say unequivocally that the feds have no spies in Catholic churches, and essentially he admitted that they might. Meanwhile, he blathered on about the First Amendment. The loophole and evasion in Garland’s statement here is that the investigations in Catholic churches aren’t going on because of anything related to Catholic worship. Thus Garland can maintain that his department respects ‘First Amendment activity.’”
It’s an absurd evasion. And it shows how deep the paranoia has run in the Biden administration about their right-wing political opponents.
This paranoia has clearly gone too far.
Most Republicans and conservatives are staunch supporters of democracy. When Trump tried to overturn the election, all but two U.S. Senators voted to certify it, plus over 100 House members.
And in their efforts to supposedly “save democracy” the DOJ is actually killing democracy by destroying the sacred First Amendment rights of the American people.
Democracy depends on free speech. Americans must be allowed to voice their political opinions and worship the God they believe in with no government interference.
The DOJ needs to be held accountable for this abuse of power, and Merrick Garland should resign.
