Joe Biden ran on “no more kids in cages.”
But his first three months in office have been an immigration disaster.
Now, Biden just got hit with devastating news about the southern border.
When Joe Biden was running for President last year, the narrative his campaign team and his allies in the mainstream media ran with was “no more kids in cages.”
The attacks on Trump focused on immigration detention centers that had been established by Trump’s predecessor, Barack Obama.
Ironically, it was while Biden served as Vice President that the “kids in cages” narrative was first laid down, but with the support of an all-too eager media, Biden was able to shift any criticism of the program onto Trump.
However, now that Biden is in office, it seems that the “kids in cages” outrage that was presented on an almost daily basis in the mainstream media has fallen silent.
The issue itself has almost been completely ignored by the press now that the attacks no longer serve their purpose with Trump out of office.
What’s more, the media is reluctant to cover the issue, because things have only gotten so much worse under the first three month of the Biden presidency.
Chron.com reports, “Preliminary enforcement data for March confirms what border officials have been saying for weeks: The number of migrants crossing into the United States has skyrocketed to the highest levels in at least 15 years, and record numbers of teenagers and children arriving without parents have overwhelmed the government’s ability to care for them.”
This is a complete reversal of the Biden promise to deal with the crisis on the border and end the policy of “keeping kids in cages.”
Instead, Biden’s partisan attacks on Trump, combined with his own policy of effectively supporting open borders during the 2020 election cycle, has driven thousands of migrants to the southern border.
With word of mouth spreading that Biden will simply open the flood gates to anyone and everyone who wishes to enter the United States, it seems that one of the largest mass immigration crises in American history is now playing out in states like Texas and Arizona.
“Though President Joe Biden and his top officials have refused to acknowledge it is a crisis, the latest data shows the new administration under extraordinary strain. U.S. agents took more than 171,000 migrants into custody last month, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection figures that contradict Biden’s claims that his administration is facing an influx no different from previous years.” adds Chron.
“In recent weeks, border agents have struggled with the overwhelming number of unaccompanied teenagers and children in their care, many held in cramped detention conditions for far longer than legal limits while they wait for bed space to open at emergency shelters run by the Department of Health and Human Services.” concludes Chron.
The wave of migrants trying to cross the border by any means necessary has only been possible thanks to Biden’s administration effectively eliminating many of the routs for immigration and border patrol authorities to manage border crossings and direct people to enter the country legally.
And with the press now all but covering for Biden on a routine basis, it seems the immigration crisis on the southern border will only continue for weeks to come.
