This was an embarrassing moment for America.
Joe Biden was meeting with one of the most important world leaders.
But this gravely important meeting was disrupted when he had a concerning episode.
One of the most crucial jobs of the President of the United States is to present himself in a strong and decisive way when meeting with foreign leaders.
Japan is one of America’s most important allies, and the leader of Japan holds a key role in the global economy. Biden was scheduled to meet with him recently in a state visit that had major implications.
But instead of presenting strength and decisiveness, Joe Biden appeared to be completely disoriented and may not have actually known what was going on.
This prompted a tremendous amount of criticism from people who cannot believe that Biden is still serving as president, let alone running for a second term.
It was a humiliating moment for America as one of our nation’s most important allies looked on in concern.
And Biden’s fitness to serve as president, or lack thereof, is causing problems for America in the most problematic way yet. According to the New York Post, “President Biden raised eyebrows Wednesday morning, when he appeared disoriented while welcoming Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to the White House for a state visit.”
“Biden, 81, and Kishida, 66, greeted one another before shaking the hands of members of both the US and Japanese delegations on the South Lawn.”
“The leaders then mounted a stage for the national anthems of both countries, before reviewing US military honor guards.”
This is where the issues began for Biden, and unfortunately for him, it was all caught on dozens of cameras.
The article continues, “Biden seemed to gaze around with a blank look on his face before putting on his signature aviator sunglasses and marching across the lawn.”
“During the review, the president’s gait was noticeably stiff and his steps appeared tentative and uncertain.”
“Eventually, Biden and Kishida made their way back to the podium and delivered remarks, in which the president proclaimed the link between Washington and Tokyo was ‘closer, stronger, and more effective than ever before in history.’”
“Following their remarks, the two men descended the stage, with Biden cutting in front of Kishida to grab a railing for assistance.”
“Biden’s troubles were called out by the RNC Research X account, prompting a flurry of responses.”
Joe Biden needs to acknowledge what has become blindingly obvious to everyone who has observed him over the past few years.
He was already becoming frail by the time he ran for President in 2020, but it has gotten noticeably worse since last year and it is seriously impacting his ability to perform at the job.
Being President of the United States is not an “honorary figurehead” type of position. The President needs to be cogent and energetic. Biden right now appears to be neither.
The best decision he could make for the country would be to step aside and let someone younger take his place.
