Hillary Clinton and her husband Bill have certainly had an odd marriage, going back to the infamous Monica Lewinsky scandal during Bill’s second term as president.
Since then, Bill has faded out of the political spotlight for the most part, while Hillary has run for president twice and been the Democrat nominee once.
But they’ve both remained plagued by scandals over the years and now another one appears to be brewing.
Hillary Clinton had her 76th birthday recently. And Bill Clinton never misses an opportunity to cash-in.
So he decided to use his wife’s birthday for his own selfish purposes. And people were stunned when they found out what he was up to.
According to the Washington Examiner, “In a note to fans, former President Bill Clinton said Thursday is his wife Hillary Rodham Clinton’s 76th birthday. ‘She deserves to feel special today,’ he wrote.”
“And, of course, that meant money.”
Here’s what the note said: “Today, I’m asking you to help to celebrate Hillary’s birthday by adding your name — and a message, if you’d like — to her birthday card. She loves getting these notes every year, and I know it would mean so much to see your name on the list and to know that you’ll join her in working for a fairer, more inclusive, democratic America.”
For Bill Clinton to use his wife’s birthday in this kind of a sneaky way is absolutely shameless. And the Washington Examiner took notice of it.
“All people had to do was cough up their email, and if they also included a check, Clinton promised to send a birthday sticker with his wife’s signature on it,” the article continued.
Those who signed the card received this message next: “Thank you so much for adding your name to Hillary’s birthday card! There’s one more way you can help to celebrate Hillary’s special day, and that’s by supporting candidates who share the values that have been so central to her life. Make a contribution today to the Onward Together PAC — with any donation of $10 or more today, we’ll send you our free signature sticker.”
One can only imagine what Hillary Clinton said to her husband after she learned how he took advantage of her birthday to raise money.
She certainly couldn’t have been surprised – and it isn’t far-fetched to think maybe she was in on it.
Either way, it’s just another example of the shameless opportunism the Clinton family is notoriously known for.
