California just found a way around the Constitution.
And it could lead to every gun being taken away.
Now, Gavin Newsom is bragging about his decision to destroy the Second Amendment.
Gov. Gavin Newsom of California is one of the most radical anti-gun politicians in the entire country. But his latest scheme is perhaps his most shocking one ever.
He has signed a law that would use “civil enforcement” tactics to criminalize gun sales and make gun distributors liable to being sued for enormous amounts of money.
According to Yahoo, “The law was directly inspired by an abortion restriction that went into effect in Texas last year. That measure, known as S.B. 8, used a unique enforcement mechanism to get around Roe v. Wade – which was at the time still in effect – and effectively ban abortions after about six weeks of pregnancy. But the Supreme Court allowed the Texas law to stay in place, at least temporarily, because the ban is enforced by individuals suing in civil court instead of law enforcement cracking down on abortion clinics.”
Now, Newsom is trying to apply those same tactics to get rid of the Second Amendment in California and take away guns.
The Left is ecstatic about these new restrictions and the potential to punish gun owners in California.
The article continues, “Some lawmakers and political commentators on the left have applauded Newsom for taking advantage of the Republican states’ legal strategy.”
“There’s hope that the threat of severe financial punishment from private lawsuits will create even more incentive for dealers to avoid breaking the state’s gun laws.”
The theory behind the law is that since individuals are the ones “enforcing” it, not the state government, no one has any standing to sue, and the case cannot be taken up in court.
Therefore, law-abiding gun owners could get targeted in all kinds of unthinkable ways, and they would have no way out of it, because they could not sue to get their rights back.
If this law is allowed to stand, it could open the floodgates to all kinds of unconstitutional laws across the country.
Democrats could try to force social media companies to ban conservatives from posting on their platforms. Republicans could try to ban people from putting “Black Lives Matter” lawn signs in their yard. It could result in a back-and-forth battle of unconstitutional laws that rips the country apart at the seams and obliterates the Constitution.
If America is going to hold together, then the law has to actually mean something. And the Constitution is the ultimate law of the land.
The Bill of Rights exists to prevent the government, whether at the federal or state level, from passing laws that infringe upon the most core natural rights of Americans, whether it be guns, speech, due process, or the right to be secure in our persons and papers.
The Supreme Court will have to deal with this issue as soon as possible. If they let Newsom get away with this, Pandora’s box will truly fly open, with devastating results for all of us.
