Freedom is dying after one unthinkable move by Gavin Newsom.
He made a sudden and unexpected move to seize power.
Now fear is spreading like wildfire as his crackdown has begun.
California’s governor Gavin Newsom is perhaps one of the most authoritarian politicians in the entire country, but he really outdid himself with one recent decision.
He’s come under serious criticism and scrutiny for his failure to stop crime in the inner cities, which has led to law-abiding citizens feeling like they can’t leave their homes safely.
The obvious solution to this would be to simply hold criminals accountable when they commit crimes.
But instead, Newsom is embracing a “solution” to the problem that is only going to lead to Californians living in a surveillance state.
He is putting up cameras in public to help “stop crime” – of course these cameras will not just monitor criminals – they’ll monitor everybody.
According to Fox News, “Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., was hit with backlash and mockery this week after announcing Oakland’s new plan to combat rampant crime. Social media critics accused the governor of pushing a ‘surveillance state.’”
“Newsom announced the city’s new plan to combat crime in Oakland on Friday, declaring on X that Oakland was going to be putting up ‘high tech cameras’ along busy roads around the city to identify criminals.”
Newsom said in the announcement: “480 new high-tech cameras are being installed along freeways and in Oakland to make the area safer. These will help law enforcement identify vehicles linked to crimes using real-time information and alerts. We’re building safer, stronger communities for all Californians.”
One can only wonder whether these “high-tech” cameras are going to have facial recognition technology like the ones in Communist China do. “The initiative was put together by the CEOs of four major downtown Oakland employers, as part of a $10 million security program to improve public safety and protect employees. The companies are Blue Shield of California, Clorox, Kaiser Permanente and Pacific Gas & Electric,” the article continues.
“The X post also featured video of Newsom standing near a busy Oakland road and detailing the policy to viewers.”
“In it, he elaborated on the plan, adding that it’s part of law enforcement’s efforts ‘to focus on stolen vehicles.’”
Even if with the purest of intentions, there’s simply no way this policy won’t end up getting abused.
Anytime a government has access to more information about people, they’ll almost certainly take full advantage of it.
Newsom is unleashing a serious crackdown in California that will give him significantly more power and control over the people living in his state.
