Elon Musk is well-known for his work on electric cars.
But the founder of Tesla just issued one stark warning to Joe Biden about record gas prices.
And his solution to the crisis was something no one ever expected.
Gas prices across the United States are approaching record highs.
The cause behind the sharp rise in gas prices can be narrowed down to two key reasons: Russia’s ongoing war with Ukraine, and a growing opposition to policies which would make the United States energy independent.
Much of that opposition is being driven by so-called “green energy” advocates in the US. But the problem is, technology like solar, wind, and water-based renewable energy sources are not nearly as powerful enough yet to fulfill the United States’ energy needs.
Even worse, many of America’s leading political figures are openly pushing for policies which have allowed Russia to cement incredible amounts of economic leverage over the rest of Europe and even the United States.
The ongoing war in Ukraine is proof that the US needs to do more to expand its oil and natural gas reserves. And yet politicians like Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer continue to block any effort to do so.
One of Biden’s first acts in office was to completely gut the Keystone XL pipeline connecting the United States with Canada, another energy-rich nation whose Liberal government under Justin Trudeau has done everything in its power to shut down production of all oil and natural gas sources in the country.
These actions have not only endangered the security of Europe, they have made the United States and Canada both poorer as a result, and both countries are now witnessing record gas prices at the pump.
Even worse, the refusal to utilize the energy sources the United States enjoys could actually be delaying production of green renewable energy in the future, as hypothetical proceeds from the sale of oil and natural gas that have been blocked from being taken to market are thus unable to be spent on research and development for cleaner renewable energy sources.
Unfortunately, things appear to only be getting worse.
That’s why Elon Musk, who potentially stands to gain the most from a transition away from oil and natural gas, has taken an unexpected step in calling for new drilling in the US.
The Hill reports, “Tesla CEO Elon Musk urged the United States to increase its oil and gas production following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, despite the negative impact on his company.”
“Hate to say it, but we need to increase oil & gas output immediately. Extraordinary times demand extraordinary measures. Obviously, this would negatively affect Tesla, but sustainable energy solutions simply cannot react instantaneously to make up for Russian oil & gas exports,” tweeted Elon Musk.
This statement comes at a time when Congress weighs the impact of completely banning the importation of Russian oil into the United States, in order to cut off millions of US Dollars going to fund the Russian war effort in Ukraine.
And Musk’s warning about the need to immediately increase oil and gas production in the United States cannot be ignored.
