Elon Musk is the richest man in the world.
And after suffering for years under California’s Left-wing government, he finally moved his company’s headquarters to Texas.
But now, Musk is issuing one major warning to Texas lawmakers that Republican’s can’t ignore.
Elon Musk has one word of warning for the people of his new home state: “Don’t California Texas.”
After relocating Tesla’s headquarters from California to the Texas state capital of Austin, Musk is now worried that many other California corporations are moving into the state and could bring their left-wing political values with them.
Musk, a long-time critic of the way politics was done in California, is now warning that Texas cities like Austin are well on their way to becoming a second San Francisco.
Fox News reports, “Tesla CEO Elon Musk warned Sunday against turning the city of Austin, Texas, into a ‘San Francisco copycat.’”
“Austin should be its city, not a San Francisco copycat,” Musk tweeted.
Musk has only just recently announced plans to relocate Tesla to Texas full-time.
In early October, Musk announced at an annual meeting of Tesla stockholders that he intended to move the company’s headquarters to Austin, which has seen an explosion of growth in recent years as major Silicon Valley corporations open up new offices in the city, or relocate their companies entirely from California to Texas.
But as new jobs and businesses move to the Lone Star State from California, they are bringing with them the same political views that have made California such a disaster in recent years.
“In the wake of the George Floyd protests last year to cut up to $150 million from its police department budget – a little more than a third of its total budget – and reinvest that money into other public services. Since then, the city has experienced a nearly 71% increase in homicides,” adds Fox News.
With the recent push to defund the police, Austin is now well on its way to becoming another California-style city.
And much of that political transition has been driven in part by the relocation of new jobs and businesses from the Bay Area to central Texas.
Already, Austin is regarded as the most left-wing city in Texas, with Travis County delivering a whopping 71% of the vote to Joe Biden last year at a time when Democrats lost the entire state of Texas by around 7 points. The 2020 results showed that Austin’s home county was the most Democrat-leaning in the entire state, surpassing even Dallas or El Paso.
Austin is also considering a new referendum to beef up its police department after last year’s major crime surge.
Musk’s original tweet was directed at efforts in Austin to defeat the new referendum and continue the process of defunding the local police department.
Such policies are already in place in many California cities, which have seen a sharp increase in crime over the past year as a result.
