Something very shocking just happened live on the air.
Donald Trump had just won a historic victory for the White House.
But no one could believe what happened on CNN immediately after.
Ever since Trump was first elected to the White House in 2016, CNN has developed a reputation as one of the more left-leaning outlets on cable TV.
Their audience has shifted significantly to a more liberal set of viewers who largely expect to hear viewpoints that are critical of Donald Trump and supportive of Democrat candidates.
For the most part, CNN delivers on that. But they do have some contributors who give more conservative viewpoints on the issues.
One of those people is Scott Jennings, who has a long history in Republican politics and is far more conservative than the typical on-air personalities at CNN.
After the election was called for Trump, Jennings had a lot to say, and his words gave CNN viewers something to think about that perhaps they’d never considered before.
Here is part of what Jennings had to say: “This is a mandate. He’s won the national popular vote for the first time for a Republican since 2004. This is a big deal. He isn’t just backing into office; this is a mandate to do what he said he would do: get the economy working again for regular working-class Americans, fix immigration, try to get crime under control, and reduce chaos in the world. This is a mandate from the American people to do that.”
Jennings isn’t just addressing the fact that Trump won, but also the fact that people expect him to implement conservative policies once he takes office.
His fellow panelists at CNN may not have been thrilled with what he said, but they did respectfully listen to him.
Jennings continued, “This campaign was run as though Democrats thought there were enough people who hated Trump or were willing to fear him to win the race. It turns out there’s more to being president than simply not being Donald Trump in the eyes of the American people. I’m a little worried about how Democrats will react. They’ve been told Trump is a modern-day Hitler or, at least, a fascist. Now, Kamala Harris may have to wake up in the morning, concede to him, and then go to the Senate to certify the election, which she’ll do.”
Everyone should sincerely hope there will be peace after the election, as violence does not help anybody, whether it comes from the left or the right.
People who carelessly talk about things like “civil war” would be shocked at how horrific something like that would be for their lives and their families.
Americans may still be far apart in terms of their political views, but we should all be able to agree not to commit acts of violence.
