Religion has been under attack in America for years.
Many religious people voted for Donald Trump in the hopes he would protect their rights.
But one move he just made has left them concerned.
Donald Trump’s religious faith has been a question mark for a long time and it’s been widely debated on both sides how sincere his faith really is.
So it raised a lot of eyebrows when Donald Trump didn’t put his hand on the Bible during his swearing in ceremony.
According to ABC News, “President Donald Trump did not place his hand on the Bible as he took the oath of office during his inauguration on Monday.”
“First lady Melania Trump stood next to the president holding two Bibles, but the 47th president of the United States didn’t place his hand on either as he raised his right hand to take the presidential oath, which Chief Justice John Roberts issued.”
In fairness to Trump, there was a lot going on that day and he may have simply been distracted, but it’s certainly a question he is going to have to answer.
The article continues, “There is no legal requirement for the president to place his hand on the Bible. According to Article VI, Clause 3, of the U.S. Constitution, which covers oaths of office, members of Congress, state legislatures, and executive and judicial officers throughout the country are bound ‘by oath or affirmation’ to support the Constitution.”
“During his first inauguration on Jan. 20, 2017, Trump placed his right hand atop two Bibles held by the first lady as Roberts swore him in as the 45th president.”
Whatever his reason for not putting his hand on the Bible, Trump has a lot of work to do if he’s going to reverse the secular trend in America.
This secularism has led to ideologies like denying the reality of two gender – which has led to children undergoing sex change surgeries.
Trump seems committed to reversing those things, but it remains to be seen if he will follow through.
