Trump will soon do something that no human being has done in hundreds of years.
The world will be watching with anticipation.
And Trump is going to make history before our very eyes.
Donald Trump has broken all kinds of precedents since he got into politics.
But Trump is doing historic things – not just here in America, but across the pond too.
One of the most prestigious honors someone can receive in the UK is a state visit with the Royal Family.
Trump already received one during his first term.
Now Trump has been offered a second state visit with the Royal Family – something that hasn’t happened with any other elected leader in hundreds of years.
According to the Washington Post:
“President Donald Trump accepted a ‘really special’ invitation from King Charles III to visit Britain for a second state visit.”
“Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday personally delivered the invite, handing Trump a letter while visiting the White House. Starmer told Trump that the invitation was ‘unprecedented.’ Trump will be the first elected political leader in modern times to be hosted by Britain for two state visits.”
Not every President of the United States is guaranteed even a first state visit as it’s usually reserved for only a select few individuals.
The Washington Post continues:
“The U.S. president appears to have a cordial relationship with Charles, despite the two men having differing views on issues including climate change. When Charles revealed his cancer diagnosis, Trump weighed in on social media saying that the king was a ‘wonderful man’ whom he ‘got to know well’ during his first term. According to Melania Trump’s memoir, the Trumps ‘exchange letters with King Charles to this day.’”
“A state visit is a grand, ceremonial affair full of pomp and pageantry and usually includes a carriage ride and a lavish state banquet. During Elizabeth II’s long reign, only three U.S. presidents were given full state visits: Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Donald Trump.”
Considering Charles was not yet king during Trump’s first term, King Charles has not been the primary beneficiary of a state visit yet.
That is about to change, however, as Trump graciously accepted the offer and will be shipping off to the U.K. in the near future to see the king.
