Joe Biden is losing allies faster than he can count.
His extreme agenda and corrupt administration is driving them away.
Now one top Democrat may be on the verge of leaving the party altogether.
Joe Manchin is the last remaining so-called “moderate” Democrat senator from a deeply Republican state.
He represents West Virginia, one of the reddest states in America, and has built his brand as someone who is willing to “compromise” with Republicans and not go too far to the left.
Of course, Manchin is a liberal. He just hasn’t signed onto any of the most radical ideas of the left like packing the Supreme Court or destroying the filibuster.
But for those very small betrayals of the Democrat agenda, he has been essentially excommunicated from the party by Joe Biden and the party bosses.
Progressive activists have threatened to primary him, even though he’s the only Democrat who can win statewide in West Virginia.
Now he’s given up hope and is on the verge of leaving the Democrat Party altogether.
According to a report from The Hill, “West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin (D) says he is ‘thinking seriously’ about leaving the Democratic Party and declaring himself an independent before the 2024 election, when he will have to decide whether to run for a fourth Senate term or wage a third-party bid for president.”
“Manchin, who earlier this year described himself as an independent Democrat, told West Virginia radio host Hoppy Kercheval on Thursday that the Democratic brand has ‘become so bad.’”
“I’m thinking seriously. For me, I have to have peace of mind, basically. The brand has become so bad — the D brand and R brand. In West Virginia, the D brand because it’s [the] national brand. It’s not the Democrats in West Virginia, it’s the Democrats in Washington.”
“You’ve heard me say a million times I’m not a Washington Democrat,” he said.
This is nothing short of a disaster for Joe Biden who already has an extremely narrow majority in the Senate and may be about to lose it.
He’s already lost one former Democrat senator Kyrsten Sinema from Arizona.
The article explains, “The senator’s flirtation with becoming an independent comes eight months after Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz.) announced her decision to leave the Democratic Party and register as an Independent.”
Now Biden might be on the verge of losing a second one in Manchin, who endorsed him for president in 2020.
Manchin’s decision may be coming from a place of genuine disillusionment with the Democrat Party, or a place of political self-preservation. No one knows for sure.
However, he’s also flirted with the idea of running third-party presidential against Biden and Trump, since both are deeply unpopular with independent voters.
Whatever he ends up doing, he’s dealt a massive blow to Joe Biden, whose administration is sinking before our very eyes.
