Two former allies at Fox News are now butting heads with each other.
It is threatening to upend the entire presidential race.
Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity are at each other’s throats in a shocking new conflict.
Donald Trump is famous for listening to TV commentators for advice.
He is close friends with both Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity, and both want to have more influence on Trump than the other.
This battle has erupted as Trump considers his choice for Vice President, a major decision that will have a big impact on the presidential race.
According to a report from Tara Palmieri, Carlson is pushing hard for J.D. Vance, the U.S. Senator from Ohio famous for having written the book “Hillbilly Elegy,” which was later turned into a movie featuring Glenn Close and Amy Adams.
This makes sense as Carlson and Vance share similar politics, with a skepticism of U.S. involvement in foreign conflicts, and a preference for government economic social programs here at home with an active government that also promotes social conservatism.
Hannity and Fox’s Robert Murdoch do not want Vance to be the nominee at all.
Murdoch prefers Doug Burgum, according to Palmieri, as he views Burgum a “country club conservative” just like Murdoch.
Burgum is a wealthy businessman and the current governor of North Dakota. He briefly ran for President in the primary but failed to gain any serious traction.
Lastly, Sean Hannity wants Marco Rubio to be the Vice Presidential nominee, as Hannity and Rubio share a neoconservative foreign policy view that involves the U.S. inserting and funding conflicts around the world.
In fact, Rubio is so committed to his neoconservative views that his slogan during his presidential campaign in 2016 was “A New American Century” – which was directly lifted from Bill Kristol’s think-tank called ‘Project for a New American Century’.
Kristol, of course, is America’s leading neocon who has since left the Republican Party and now endorses Democrats due to his hatred for Donald Trump.
This battle between Carlson and Hannity is shocking for those who watched them on Fox News for years and enjoyed both their shows.
Either way, the decision is ultimately up to Donald Trump on whom he chooses to be his running mate.
