Joe Biden created a massive and dangerous mess.
His mouth has gotten him in trouble yet again.
And his nasty insult of a powerful foreign leader could have far-reaching consequences.
One of the most important jobs of any president is to be a competent spokesperson for the government of the United States in foreign relations.
The president must be able to clearly communicate to foreign leaders what the intentions of our government are to keep foreign relations from spiraling into violent and dangerous conflicts.
Joe Biden has proven utterly inadequate at this task. And Biden recently proved yet again why he can’t be trusted in foreign relations after insulting the nuclear power, India, and one of our closest allies, Japan.
According to The Hill, “The Japanese and Indian governments pushed back Saturday against President Biden’s description of the nations as ‘xenophobic’ last week, after he said at a campaign event the countries and others do not welcome immigrants.”
“Biden grouped Japan and India alongside China and Russia as ‘xenophobic countries,’ claiming being less open to immigrants has caused the countries’ economies to struggle since the COVID-19 pandemic.”
This insult has infuriated the leaders of these two countries, who are vitally important for the United States to maintain strong relations with amidst a chaotic global environment.
Now the governments of these nations are pushing back with fury against Joe Biden and the United States after they were brutally insulted.
Indian External Affair Minister S. Jaishankar said in response: “I haven’t seen such an open, pluralistic, and diverse society anywhere in the world. We are actually not just not xenophobic, we are the most open, most pluralistic and in many ways the most understanding society in the world.” The article goes on to report: “A Japanese official told The Associated Press that Biden’s remarks were unfortunate and based on a misunderstanding of the country’s policies, and they accepted the White House’s characterizations of the statement as a mistake.”
“The White House later said the comments meant no harm and did not intend to hurt relations with the close U.S. ally Japan.”
Biden’s administration can try to walk it back all they want, but the damage is done. Now India and Japan are furious at the United States, and this may cause them to draw closer to our nation’s most dangerous enemies.
Joe Biden has created a huge mess by opening his mouth and making insulting comments about some of the most powerful nations on Earth.
