Donald Trump and Bill Maher have a long and ugly history.
Maher has viciously opposed Trump for many years.
But he just made an announcement about Trump that will shock everybody.
Bill Maher has a very negative view of Donald Trump, and doesn’t think Trump will willingly leave office in 2028.
Even though Maher is strongly opposed to the “woke” ideology on the left, that has not translated into support for Republicans yet.
But that could be changing, and Maher seems to be softening on his opposition to Trump and is planning to have a meeting with him.
According to Fox News, “Bill Maher revealed how he plans to behave when he meets with President Donald Trump at the White House – and joked about which outfit he’ll avoid wearing.”
“‘I’m not going to dress like Zelenskyy,’ Maher quipped during his Club Random podcast interview with comedian Andrew Schulz, referring to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s casual attire during a contentious Oval Office meeting with Trump last month.”
It seems that Maher isn’t approaching this meeting with a spirit of hostility, but that he is excited about it and even making jokes.
This is very new for Maher, who has been warning about Trump on his show for years, even as he decries “woke” activists.
The article continues, “Schulz, a comedian and host of the Flagrant podcast, said that Trump’s willingness to sit down and talk with anyone was part of the 47th president’s appeal, and that former Vice President Kamala Harris’ seeming reluctance to do so contributed to her election defeat.”
“The two comics agreed that dialogue, and being willing to speak to people with whom you disagree, are core components of the American character. Maher commended Trump for being willing to speak with a long-time critic such as himself.”
This could be a good opportunity for Maher to get some of his concerns addressed directly by Trump.
Now, whether or not Maher actually becomes a Trump supporter remains to be seen, but it’s a fair assumption that it’ll ease the tensions.
This is a great opportunity for Americans who disagree on some things to come together and have an open conversation.
