Joe Biden is quickly shaping up to be the “Lockdown President.”
He’s been more than happy to let COVID restrictions crush the American economy.
And now his CDC Director is suggesting that more restrictions might be on the way.
Rochelle Walensky, Biden’s new CDC Director, gave a melodramatic press conference where she warned of “impending doom” because COVID cases increased by less than 1%. She told the American public that she is “scared” and they should be as well.
In addition, Biden himself has been on a “fear and doom” tour of the country in the past few weeks.
After Texas reopened their state and canceled their mask mandate, Biden accused them of being “Neanderthals.” When asked if states should consider additional new restrictions, Biden gave a one-word answer – yes. Additionally, when Biden was interviewed on ESPN, he flew off the handle against the Texas Rangers, who have decided to allow full capacity fan attendance at their stadium this year.
This, of course, is coming at a time when a huge proportion of senior citizens – the most vulnerable group – have been vaccinated, and their infection and hospitalization numbers have plummeted.
In fact, two months ago, Modern Healthcare wrote a piece observing a substantial decline in the number of hospitalizations among elderly patients.
This piece was written on February 5th – today, the numbers almost certainly are much, much better. The communities of people that are most vulnerable to death and hospitalization from COVID have largely been immunized.
However, Biden’s health officials have signaled that these positive developments may not matter at all. Masks and social distancing may become the new law of the land under the Biden administration, as Anthony Fauci has been pushing for quite some time.
Sen. Rand Paul pushed Fauci at a recent Senate hearing about whether or not vaccinated people should wear masks. Fauci’s answer was an unequivocal yes.
This means that even if the entire population were to get the vaccine, Fauci would still order them to wear masks, stay at home, and socially distance. These restrictions would last indefinitely into the future.
Political observers say that health experts like Fauci have wanted these restrictions for a long time. They think that masking up and staying at home permanently would be a great way to get rid of other diseases as well, like the common cold or the flu.
Most Americans, however, seem to prefer taking the risk of catching a cold if it means they get to participate in activities that they enjoy. That’s been the reality for almost all of human history, and most people are not bothered by it.
However, with the establishment media hyping up this latest 1% increase in COVID cases as an apocalyptic “surge,” it remains to be seen if the American people will be scared into submission.
It appears that some governors, however, will not submit. Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida has opposed the COVID lockdowns at every turn. He is now coming out against vaccine passports and, if history is any indicator, won’t let Rochelle Walensky or Joe Biden bully him in this case either.
Those who do not live in Florida, however, may not be so lucky.
And until other governors start following in DeSantis’s footsteps – or Americans choose to stop complying – more lockdowns might be on the way.
