Joe Biden’s presidential campaign is spiraling, and it seems he may not last much longer before he is forced to step aside.
One of the key figures behind this move is Barack Obama, who’s reportedly had serious doubts about Biden’s viability for quite some time.
However, as the incumbent president, Biden had a ton of power.
Presidents largely control who gets hired for powerful jobs in their party, which means the Democratic National Committee is filled to the brim with Biden loyalists.
That meant it was always going to be vdifficult to get Biden out, as those people would not be keen on the idea of losing their jobs thanks to another candidate taking over.
But now that it’s become clear that Biden’s mind is slipping, Obama is taking advantage of the opportunity to get him out of the race.
According to NDTV, “Former US president Barack Obama has told allies that Joe Biden needs to reconsider his reelection bid, the Washington Post reported on Thursday.”
“Obama believes that Biden’s path to victory has diminished and that the 81-year-old should ‘seriously consider the viability of his candidacy,’ the newspaper said, citing people briefed on his thinking.”
“It said there was no immediate comment from Obama, who was in office while Biden was vice president from 2009 to 2017 and who remains hugely influential in the Democratic party.”
Obama is desperate to see Democrats defeat Donald Trump in November, and he knows it simply isn’t going to happen with a man who is clearly in cognitive decline.
That’s why replacing Biden with a younger and more energetic candidate is such an important task for Obama.
The article continues, “Obama would be the most heavyweight Democrat so far to join a growing chorus in the party calling for Biden to drop out, following a disastrous debate performance against Donald Trump.”
“Biden, who is isolating with Covid at his beach house, has rejected concerns about his age and fitness and insisted that he is staying in the race for the White House.”
“Pressure is mounting, though, with Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries also both reportedly meeting with Biden in recent days to warn that his candidacy threatens his party’s prospects in November’s election.”
It’s getting to the point where if Biden stays in the race, he will probably lose in one of the biggest landslides in American history.
It would be easy for Trump to simply point out that Biden’s fellow Democrats don’t think he should even be running in the first place. At this point, it’s a matter of when – not if – Biden drops out. And Barack Obama will have had a major hand in that.
