Democrats are proving that they care about politics more than kids.
Arizona’s governor had a chance to protect children in school from violence.
But she rejected it because it didn’t involve gun control.
School shootings are a huge problem, but gun control is the least effective way to deal with this problem. It flat-out doesn’t work.
Leftists will try to claim that “America doesn’t have gun control” and “anyone can get a gun,” but what they ignore is that many states do have strict gun control.
And guess what? Shootings happen in those states too.
The Sandy Hook massacre in Newtown, CT., took place in a state with incredibly strict gun control. The Buffalo shooting took place in New York, which has strict gun control. The San Bernardino shooting took place in California, which has strict gun control.
These are just a few of the many examples.
You see, it turns out that when you take away AR-15s, people just use other guns.
And background checks don’t work either, because most mass shooters aren’t your local drug dealer who would fail a background check. They are quiet loners who bottle up their anger. Background checks can’t detect that.
So the answer isn’t gun control. The answer is to protect schools. The fact that there are still thousands of schools out there that do not have armed protection in one form or another is unacceptable.
Katie Hobbs, the Democrat governor of Arizona, had a chance to change this.
The Republican legislature in Arizona passed a pair of laws designed to secure schools by allowing law-abiding citizens to carry guns to defend schools.
But Hobbs refused, because she doesn’t actually want to defend schools. She just wants to take people’s guns away.
According to Bearing Arms, “Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs shot down two proposals aimed at improving student safety and protecting the rights of law-abiding residents on Tuesday, breaking out her veto pen and calling on the Republican-controlled legislature to start passing gun control bills instead. HB 2332 would have set up a firearms safety education program for students in grades 6-12, while SB 1331 would have allowed Arizonans with concealed carry licenses to lawfully bring their firearms on campus.”
The article continues, “What Hobbs is really saying is that, if God forbid a determined killer ever comes on campus, it’s better to have a one-sided slaughter than the chance to fight back, at least until law enforcement shows up.”
That is what Democrats effectively believe. Their goal is to repeal the Second Amendment, not to actually stop school shootings.
Their gun control proposals are guaranteed to fail at stopping these shootings, because they have already been proven to fail in state after state that has tried them.
If something isn’t working, stop trying it and try something else. It’s basic common sense that Democrats apparently do not have.
America needs to do a vastly better job securing schools. Once we do that, we can finally make real progress in ending school shootings, without taking anyone’s constitutional rights away.
