Democrats have declared war on the Second Amendment.
They’re blatantly ignoring the law as they see fit.
And now, all hell is breaking loose after this Democrat Governor just ran roughshod over the Constitution.
Democrats have launched an all-out assault on the Constitutional rights of the American people.
And in what’s become a major escalation in the left’s war on individual liberty, the Democrat Governor of New Mexico has decided to push the envelope as far as she can possibly go.
Using COVID-era “public health” emergency powers, Democrat Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham recently signed an executive order which effectively destroys the Second Amendment for residents of Albuquerque.
The backlash has been incredible.
The Associated Press reports, “Democratic New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said she would welcome a fight after announcing an emergency order to suspend the right to carry firearms in most public places around Albuquerque. That’s exactly what she’s getting.
Since she issued the 30-day public health order on Friday, a furor has rained down from gun owners, state Republican lawmakers and civil rights advocates. Even some in her own party questioned the move.”
Within hours of the outrageous illegal order, the National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR) filed a lawsuit against the Governor.
“[Governor Lujan Grisham] thought she was above the Constitution, and that her ideas superseded the God-given and constitutionally protected rights of Americans,” NAGR said in a press release.
“Less than 24 hours after her announcement, your National Association for Gun Rights was there with the first lawsuit filed to fight back against this tyrant.”
NAGR was among the first organization in the country to push back against the illegal gun ban.
“The order applies to open and concealed carry in most public places and is tied to a threshold for violent crime rates currently only met in metropolitan Albuquerque. Police and licensed security guards are exempt,” adds the Associated Press.
“Violators could face civil penalties and a fine of up to $5,000, gubernatorial spokeswoman Caroline Sweeney said. Residents still could transport guns to some private locations such as a gun range or gun store, but only with a trigger lock — a container or mechanism making it impossible to discharge.”
Now, even members of her own party are admitting the gun ban is a step too far.
“An unconstitutional approach undermines the important collaboration gun issues deserve, and the important role of a Governor to lead genuine reforms,” wrote Democrat Sen. Joseph Cervantes of Las Cruces on X, formerly Twitter.
His condemnation of the move was followed by other liberal groups, including even the ACLU, which called the ban unconstitutional as well.
Now, a movement has emerged to call for the Governor’s immediate impeachment for violating her oath of office.
What’s more, a large crowd of protestors have defied the order and remain camped outside the Governor’s mansion, putting pressure on the Democrats to decide whether to rally around this insane cause or stand in defense of the Constitution.
