Republicans may be in grave danger after this latest warning.
The CIA has declared war on them and labeled them as enemies.
And one CIA official just called for their assassination.
Michael Hayden was the CIA Director under the George W. Bush administration and was responsible for the dramatic expansion of illegal spy programs that monitored Americans in total violation of their Constitutional rights.
He is a rabid authoritarian who does not believe in democracy or the rights of individual citizens. He thinks the intelligence community should have absolute control over everything.
So he was absolutely furious when Sen. Tommy Tuberville stood in the way of a handful of military confirmations in order to reverse the Biden administration’s military abortion policy.
In a Constitutional democracy like the U.S., elected leaders have the right to perform oversight over unelected bureaucracies like the CIA and the Pentagon.
Tommy Tuberville was duly elected by the people of Alabama and he is using his position to fight for the pro-life cause.
But Hayden is furious that Congress would have that type of power.
And now he’s suggesting Sen. Tuberville should be assassinated for performing his Constitutional duties.
According to the New York Post, “Former CIA Director Michael Hayden on Monday suggested that Sen. Tommy Tuberville be removed from the ‘human race’ over his blockade of military confirmations.”
“The shocking suggestion from the retired US intelligence official came in response to a question from a user on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), who asked if Tuberville (R-Ala.) should be ‘removed from his committee.’”
Hayden’s reply was, “How about the human race?”
Like most authoritarians, Hayden does not believe that his political opponents are actually human beings.
Afterall, the CIA has been involved in numerous assassinations in foreign countries over the years, causing chaos around the world.
Now, Michael Hayden wants to bring that activity home to the United States.
Conservatives reacted in horror after hearing what Hayden had to say.
Mollie Hemingway of the Federalist tweeted in response, “Former CIA Director Michael Hayden calls for the assassination of Sen. Tuberville because the senator is performing desperately needed oversight of the U.S. Military.”
Michael Hayden should be held accountable for threatening the life of a United States Senator, which is a federal crime.
Of course, since the Justice Department is almost certainly loaded with his friends and allies, he probably won’t be held to the same standard that anyone else would be.
Michael Hayden is yet another example of how depraved the U.S. intelligence community is.
And until a President comes along who is actually serious about cleaning it up and restoring the Constitution, this type of behavior is certain to continue.
