Everything is falling apart for Adam Schiff.
He thought he had escaped the consequences for lying.
But Thomas Massie just delivered Schiff some bad news about his future in Congress.
Adam Schiff is facing something he’s never had to deal with before in his career – an effort to expel him from Congress.
Schiff has been the most shamelessly bold-faced liar in Congress for years, consistently using his position on the Intelligence Committee to mislead the public.
He will tell lies and claim he can’t provide evidence because that evidence is “classified information” which supposedly only he has access to.
But House Republicans have caught onto his act and are working to hold him accountable.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna has introduced a measure to expel him from Congress.
And recently the House voted on a measure to censure and fine him.
While this initial effort failed, Schiff is now in more trouble than ever before.
Thomas Massie explained why the measure failed, and what comes next.
“If a simple majority of the House can lay claim to $16 million from one member of Congress, our Republic is doomed if Democrats ever get the majority back. Glad to see the author of the censure resolution is removing this provision from the resolution and going to try again.”
The only reason the measure failed is that it was attempting to fine him for $16 million, which is an enormous sum of money.
And if that precedent were set, Democrats would almost certainly use it to bankrupt every single Republican member of Congress, leaving them unable to feed their families.
But as Massie pointed out, that doesn’t mean Schiff is out of the woods.
The measure will be re-introduced with stronger language that should get the support of every Republican in Congress.
Massie concluded by saying, “Thank you for removing the part that several of us thought was unwise and/or unconstitutional. Many of us are looking forward to voting for your better version.”
Now that everyone is on the same page, Schiff is cornered. His party is in the minority and he simply does not have the votes to stop this from happening.
At the very least, he will end up being censured by the House.
But it’s possible he could end up kicked out of Congress entirely.
The moral of this story is clear.
Lying to the American public has consequences and politicians will be held accountable, no matter how powerful they are.
