The liberal media is in deep trouble, and they know it.
Their ratings are dropping like a rock, and no one is listening to them anymore.
But they were not prepared for one shocking piece of bad news that they received on election night.
Mainstream news outlets have been in a slow and steady decline for years. One of the key reasons for that decline has been the advent of new technologies that have given people alternative ways of getting information.
These news outlets are used to controlling the entire narrative for the whole country, but they simply can’t do that anymore. In fact, they’re having a hard enough time just remaining profitable.
Now they’ve taken yet another hit in the form of ugly television ratings that came in on Election Night.
According to a Deadline report the day after the election, “Approximately 25.4 million people watched last night’s results in primetime, according to Nielsen. That total figure comes from 8-11 PM coverage on ABC, CBS, NBC, Telemundo, Univision, CNN, CNNe, Fox Business, Fox News Channel, MSNBC, Newsmax and NewsNation. Out of home and connected TV viewing is also included in the data.”
While 25.4 million might seem like a lot, the article goes on to explain that it’s actually a huge drop-off from where it was before.
“Indicative of the state of 21st century media and perhaps the allure of politics in a deeply divided America, last night’s total viewership tumbled 29% from the 2018 midterm viewership. That night four years ago, which saw the Democrats take back the House of Representatives and set up a fighting opposition to then President Donald Trump, was aired on ABC, CBS, NBC, Telemundo, Univision, PBS, CNN, CNNe, Fox Business, Fox News Channel and MSNBC.”
This is a disastrous result for the biggest news channels in America. And it shows an important trend that may have contributed to the results of the midterms.
Americans are tired of crazy politics. They’re tired of Trump running his mouth about everything, and Democrats trying to investigate Trump, and Trump inventing conspiracy theories, and Democrats inventing conspiracy theories about him.
It is simply exhausting for most Americans. And the country decided to split the difference and give neither party a clear majority in Congress.
Both parties should take heed to that. The American people are sick of their nonsense and have sent the clear message that they need to go in a different direction.
These viewership numbers are not only a reflection of declining interest in the mainstream media, although that is clearly a big piece of it.
They’re a reflection of people tuning out of politics in huge numbers altogether. People are sick of the crazy nonsense and want to forget about it and focus on their normal lives.
Whichever party is the first to drop the crazy nonsense – whether it’s Democrats trying to give children sex changes or Republicans coming up with crazy QAnon conspiracy theories – will have a clear path to the White House in 2024.
